3.24.17 - Iowa commit. Currently ranked No. 13 in the Illinois class of 2017. Balanced setup at the plate, loose, quick hands. Short, uphill swing path. 4.37 runner down the line on a groundball. Went 1-4 in game with an RBI single. Defensively, strong arm across the infield with soft hands.

Super 60 2017 - Iowa recruit. 6-foot, 175-pound infielder, rangy-athletic frame, continues to develop physically. Athletic arm and hands, plus arm strength, clocked at 91 mph across the infield, second-best at the Super 60. Fluid actions, fields with rhythm and pace, soft hands, average range. Offensively, loose, easy hands, generates bat speed and barrel whip through the zone. Inconsistent path at times, gets off his backside extremely well. Registered 91 mph exit velocity with wood and ran a 7.08 laser-timed 60.

6.21.16 - Iowa recruit. 6-foot, 165-pound right-handed hitting shortstop, rangy-athletic frame, longer limbs. High-ceiling prospect, continues to improve and physically develop; arguably the top overall infield prospect at the PBR Midwest ProCase. Athletic, loose hands in all facets of the game. In BP, showed advanced offensive approach. Relaxed, balanced setup, slightly open, fluidity and rhythm in stride/load, aggressive lower half, gets off his backside extremely well while maintaining balance throughout. Generates easy bat speed and barrel whip, knows how to backspin a baseball; extension through contact, gap-to-gap, line-drive approach, more power likely to come as he continues to physically develop. Registered 90 mph exit velocity with wood. Defensively, has plenty of arm strength to stay on left side of the infield; 87 across the infield with easy carry (has been up to 90 at past PBR event). Soft, athletic hands, plays through the ball well, fields the ball with rhythm and timing. Ran a 6.93 laser-timed 60.  

5.5.16 - Iowa recruit, ranked No. 14 in Illinois and No. 103 overall. Right-handed hitter with high upside at the plate. Aggressive approach, hunts the fastball and uses the entire field. Quick, strong hands creating explosive bat speed through the zone.  Made hard contact in his first two at-bats of the day. Laced a line-drive to left field in his first at-bat and followed it up with a two-run single to right field in his next at bat. Projects as a middle of the order type bat at the next level.

2.14.16 - Iowa commit. Lanky athletic shortstop, projectable build, 6-foot, 165-pounds. Defensively showed advanced actions, confident defender, effortless defender. Premium shortstop prospect, soft hands, plays through the baseball. Arm action is short and loose, excellent carry, plus arm for his age, 90 mph across the diamond. Right-handed hitter, balanced stance, short stride, smooth athletic loading action, excellent balance through contact. Explosive hands, loose bat speed, gap to gap approach, barrel aware with hard contact. 91 mph exit velocity from the tee. Ran a 7.10 60. Possible 2017 draft follow.

11.17.15 - Verbally committed to the University of Iowa.

Future Games 2015 - 6-foot, 165-pound, toolsy, athletic right-handed hitting shortstop seems to do everything well on the baseball field. He ran a 6.91 60, clocked at 88 mph from across the infield, defends, and looks to be a force at the plate. Defensively, has plenty of arm strength, range and hands to stay on the left-side of the infield at the next level. Flashed a quick arm from an over-the-top arm slot. Plus carry on his throws especially from deep in the hole. Plays tall with body control and a plus transfer. Offensively, the right-handed hitter had an exit velocity of 91 mph. Loose, really athletic hands, and lots of whip in swing. Pull-side hitter, attacks the baseball. Hands work above the ball as he enters the hitting zone. Utilizes the lower half; routinely up off his back toe and contact. Pettigrew has an extremely high ceiling and should be a high follow in the 2017 class.

10.21.14 - 6-foot, 165-pound lanky and athletic right-handed hitting shortstop hits from a balanced, athletic setup, hands load smoothly, short stride, explosive bat speed, short path gets extension, plus feel for barrel, fluid rhythm through produced line drives from gap-to-gap future power potential, 84 mph exit velocity off the tee. Pettigrew has an advanced presence and approach in the box. Defensively, threw 85 mph across the diamond from short, loose, high ¾ arm slot with accuracy. High athletic arm with future plus potential. Soft hands fielding, fluid footwork, athletically plays through the baseball, overall plus infield actions for his age. Ran a 7.53 60.

9.19.14 - 6-foot, 160-pound lanky and projectable middle infielder currently ranked No. 14 in Illinois’ 2017 class. Showed highly advanced defensively actions for his age, high follow defender. Excellent hands, soft feel, quick fluid footwork, hands work quickly and cleanly. Arm action is loose, plays with accuracy and carry, high ¾ slot, 82-83 mph across the diamond. Offensively hits from a balanced stance, short stride, solid balance throughout. Handsy swing, inside out tendencies, line drive middle of the field approach. 7.23 hand timed runner in the 60. Pettigrew is one of the top middle infielders in Illinois’ 2017 class.

10/27/13 - Lanky frame, slender build, 5-foot-9, 140-pound middle infielder, highly projectable. Showed highly advanced defensively actions for his age, high follow defender. Excellent hands, soft feel, quick fluid footwork, hands work quickly and cleanly. Arm action is loose, plays with accuracy and carry, high ¾ slot, 77 mph across the diamond. Offensively hits from a balanced stance, short stride, solid balance throughout. Handsy swing, inside out tendencies, line drive middle of the field approach. 76 mph exit velocity from the tee. 7.65 runner. Pettigrew is one of the top middle infielders in Illinois’ 2017 class.
