True Sophomore. Athletically built at 5-foot-10, 183-pounds. High-level athlete, recorded the second best 60-yard dash in the event with a 6.45. Smooth, compact and easy right-handed stroke at the plate; fluid tempo with simplicity in the swing, reached up to 97.5 mph for a max exit velocity with a max distance of 354’. Recorded a .292 batting average last year in 106 at-bats. 

Heartland Scout Day: Coming off a left shoulder injury, Brewer was limited on this look, only participating in the 60 yard dash. Smooth with an athletic stride, ran a 6.73. The right handed hitter has recently started to swing the bat in the cage. When healthy, the 5-foot-10, 170-pound OF will show a plus arm and some serious juice in the bat. 

At 5-foot-10, 183 pounds Brewer is a twitchy athlete with a live body and good present strength throughout his medium-sized frame. His top tool is run speed, clocking a smooth 6.61 sixty-yard, good for second best at this year’s ProCase. Another above average tool is his arm strength, reaching 88 mph from the outfield with a clean exchange and strong carry. At the plate his pull approach showed much pre-pitch movement with a big load and leg lift stride. With some effort to his swing he creates 69.3 mph of bat speed with an exit velocity of 93 mph off the tee. However, with a below average 0.17 seconds of time to contact and just 8.1 g of rotational acceleration with an on-plane efficiency score of just 61% his swing will need some adjustments going forward. With his current approach and spin-swing, he struggled to find the barrel with two strikeouts in his first two at-bats of the ProCase before flying out to right field during his third and final trip to plate.

Hit: RHH. Tall, athletic setup. Big load with a slight drop in the hands. Leg lift stride. Explosive bat speed. Spins with the lower half. Extension on his finish, uphill swing plane. Hard contact to his pull-side. Occasionally top spins the baseball. 

Power: 92  mph exit velocity.

Defense: Twitchy, athletic footwork. Clean exchange, sure-handed defender, 

Arm: RH. 91 mph from the OF. Medium arm action, high ¾ slot. Shows some accuracy with plenty of carry on his throws.

Run: 6.90-60

2/23/2019: Austin Brewer, OF/3B, Snider HS, 2021, 5 foot 10, 183 pounds, hits from a balanced setup and uses controlled leg lift and good separation move to launch. Barrel gets on plane early and Austin has good speed with a max exit velo of 92 mph. Austin also ran a 6.84 and threw 90 mph from the outfield with good footwork and release.

8/3/18: 5-foot-10, 183 pound frame, athletic-strong build. Right-handed hitter hits from an athletic setup, small leg kick timing trigger, smooth load. Strong use of his lower half. Uphill swing path with quick bat speed. Generates lift at contact, hard contact to his pull-side. High exit velocity of 92 off the tee. Ran a 6.68-60.  Solid defender, 84mph outfield arm.

3/3/18: 5-foot-9, 180 pound outfielder displayed loose, quick hands in the box.  Good balance, fluid rhythm.  Line drive approach.   Potential power.  Created lots of hard contact. High exit velocity of 81.  In the outfield, hands are above average with a clean, quick exchange.  Moves well laterally.   Throws topped 84 from a long, loose arm action.  Very athletic all around the field.  High follow.
