French

RHP Dawson French (Penn) was another uncommitted arm that showed well. Owning a projectable, athletic, 6-foot-3, 180 pound frame - French pitched at 86-88 mph with the fastball from a high 3/4 arm slot. French shows tons of feel for a late breaking, slurvey breaking ball at 72-74 mph, his best offspeed offering at the moment. The changeup sat 77-79 mph and was well-located with fastball arm speed. French holds next level starter upside with a projectable frame and command of three usable pitches. Unafraid of the big moment, the 6-foot-3 righty gained valuable, big-game experience during Penn's State Championship run in 2023, earning the save in the 4A State Championship.

Delivery: Shows tons of balance throughout the delivery & easy effort. Gets to a tall balance point and controls the move down the mound. In-line shoulders w/ square landing. Finishes balanced

Body: 6-foot-1, 160-pound lean projectable build.

Hit: (RHH) Solid. Started in a tall balanced stance with a tight controlled load, then used a small leg kick. Quick bat speed. Balanced finish, upward rotational swing. Gap to gap approach. 

Power: 89 mph exit velocity, average 82.8 mph. 67.6 mph bat speed average. 21.0 mph hand speed average.

Defense:  (IF) Sure hands, quick footwork, clean exchange. Solid. 

Arm: 84 mph infield velocity. Loose arm action, high ¾ slot. 

Speed: 7.43 (60-yard).

Pitching: Solid. Drop-and-drive delivery, some effort. High ¾ arm angle, some arm speed, clean moderate arm action. A clean balanced finish.
