Hit: (RHH) Athletic. Started in a wide athletic stance with a high controlled load, then used a short stride. Quick bat speed. Line drive approach.
Power: 94 mph exit velocity. 66.70 mph bat speed average. 20.30 mph hand speed average.
Defense: (IF) Next level hands, aggressive quick footwork, fluid exchange. Athletic. Fielded the ball out front with athletic movement laterally.
Arm: 87 mph infield velocity. Loose arm action, consistent accuracy.
Speed: 7.03 (60-yard).
MIF Medium build with athletic strong body. Solid frame to fill out in future. Evenly squared up stance at plate to start swing. High hand start to barrel, with short stride and load up. Shows quick hands and barrel control. Full swing on follow through after contact. Hits balls hard and loud. Showed soft hands and good range on defense. Ran a 7.07 60-yard dash. Rusch has a full windup throw style to create velocity to throws. Good accuracy to throws. Showed an aggressive approach to plays and confidence in his arm.
Garrett Rusch: SS/2B, (2022) New Castle, IN. 5-foot-9, 150-pound lean frame. In the 60-yard dash, recorded a time of 7.22. At the plate, the right-handed hitter had an exit velocity of 88 mph. Began in a tall stance with a smooth load, then used a long stride before his swing. Uphill swing plane. Found some barrels through his rounds. While in the infield, made throws at velocities up to 81 mph; had Sure hands and a twitchy exchange. Showed a loose arm action and a high ¾ slot.

2/23/2019: Garrett Rusch, SS/2B, New Castle HS, 2022, 5 foot 8, 130 pounds, starts slightly open in the box and uses small weight shift to load. Hands load early and swing works a little downhill. Feet and hands work defensively with a good release. Tools will get better as he continues to mature.
