Cape Cod: Stephen, who announced his transfer from Purdue to Mississippi State several weeks ago, had a very strong summer for Y-D, putting up a 2.73 ERA and 27 strikeouts compared to 11 walks in 26.1 innings. Stephen has a pro body at 6-foot-4 and 225 pounds and a repertoire that shows a ton of potential. From a straight over the top delivery, he has a fastball that sits 90-93 mph, a sharp low-80s slider and a mid-80s changeup. He did strike out a batter per inning with Y-D, but one thing to watch as he moves into the SEC is his ability to put hitters away efficiently. Last season with the Boilermakers, his first as a starter after throwing exclusively out of the bullpen as a freshman, he averaged just 7.8 strikeouts per nine innings. And in one look this summer, a July 11 start against Harwich, it took him 77 pitches to get through four innings, in large part because hitters were able to battle deep in counts to stay alive. The stuff and the frame suggest that Stephen could be a weekend starter for the Bulldogs in 2024, and if he can earn that role and gets out consistently in the league, his prospect status will follow.

Great Lakes National Qualifier - Purdue commit, came out hot sitting sitting 88-90, up to 91 with good extension and late life on the fastball. Also flashed a tight 80-81 mph breaking ball with swing and miss tendencies. Projectable 6-foot-4, 195 pound frame.  The right-hander is sure to make his way on scouts follow lists for next year's draft. 2IP, 5K.

6 foot 3, 180 pounds, continues to impress with his raw athleticism. Starts slightly open at the plate and closes into a solid launch position. Has good bat speed and recorded an exit velo of 91 mph. Shows good actions defensively with a good release and good arm action. On the mound, throws from a mid ¾ slot and a medium arm action. Fastball sat 85-86 with some ASR, CB was 73-76 with short tight 11/5 break, CH was 81-82 with some arm side fade. Khal shows projection in his body and his arm speed to throw extremely hard one day as his body continues to mature. I also like his upside as a potential two way player at the next level. Khal is a good 2021 follow.

9/30/18: 2021 SS solid 6’3 178 lbs frame and hits from the right side. Starts with an open set up in the box. Uses toe tapping timing trigger, front side opens quickly but still able to hit lots of line drives to pull side. Posted a 90 mph exit velo. Soft hands and good footwork in the infield. Plays tall and upright and uses low ¾ arm slot. Posted an 80 mph velocity across the diamond

60 Time: 8.0, Position Velocity: INF-71, Exit Velocity: 75. 6-foot-1, 167 pound freshman infielder uses short uphill stroke from the right side of the plate, line drive approach to the pull side. Open setup to start, uses small toe tap and stride to close and load, front hip and shoulder out early at foot strike. Has more length to add in hand load and lower half, feet sloppy and spin to finish. Barrel and hands load in strong position. Long middle infield frame with athletic actions, plays tall and upright, more bend to field and move laterally. Low ¾ arm action across the diamond, delivered accurate throws with average arm strength for age. Broad shoulders and raw frame, more strength to be developed. Freshman right hander uses long, projectable frame to get down the mound with good tempo and delivery, arm is clean with average arm speed. Ball jumps from easy arm action, threw strikes around the plate with natural sink, raw actions. Fastball showed life around the plate, thrown consistently down and for strikes, 76-79. Curveball thrown with tight shape, 10/4 break, backs up at times but thrown for strike at 66-69. Mixed in knuckleball/splitty, good tumbling action, chance to be real good pitch with arm action and velo jump, currently thrown at 70-71.
