CLASS OF 2028

Brody McGaha, 2028, SS, Mooresville: I saw McGaha in a game where his team won 21-0, but he performed to my expectations with a 2-for-2 performance. He did not get action during the game at short, either. I got in early to see Brody during BP and his defensive actions on fungoed groundballs were exceptional. He has a clear feel to catch the baseball on the infield and got into above average arm strength across the diamond during in/out with abv avg carry from a mid 3/4 slot. A 6.7 runner who hits left-handed, the floor is high and he got into some gap power during my look on him in batting practice. He gathers during an early toe-tap before deploying a handsier, direct swing that works to the inside-top.

Noticeably more physical with a much-improved run time of 6.70, McGaha made outstanding strides over the winter as he's packed on strength to a 6-foot, now 180-pound frame. Showing some of the best infield actions of the bunch while attacking the baseball with fast feet and confident hands, McGaha fired the ball across at 91 mph with actions to suggest he's got a true shot of sticking at short in college. Using slow feet and fast hands from the left-side of the dish, McGaha deployed a short, level swing that produced thru-the-middle liners that peaked at 93 mph. After hitting well-over .400 for Mooresville as a freshman and making quality strides in his athleticism this winter, look for this event to foreshadow a big sophomore campaign

McGaha showed off his silky infield actions during I/O and remains as one of my favorite defenders in this class. The hands are sticky with proper footwork to pair and he gets into his arm strength well while using multiple slots and reaching 84 mph across the diamond. The athletic, 5-foot-11, 160 pounder turned in a 6.93 60, tied for 4th amongst all participants, before showing the short, accurate swing that helped him to a .473 average at the 4A level as just a freshman. There are significant gamer traits evident in the varsity success, and multiple barrels in game here, with athleticism trending in the right direction.

Body: 5-7, 135-pounds. Athletic frame
Hit: LHH. Tall stance. Short, controlled stride with a quick hand load. Bat path works short to the baseball and level thru. Line drive approach. Will mature into more bat speed / strength.
Arm: RH. INF-75 mph. Loose, quick arm from a H 3/4 slot.
Defense: Infield actions are well-beyond his age. Moves through the baseball w/ fluid footwork - feet work on-time with the catch. Hands are soft, quick exchange, flashes ability to quick release.
