10/19/14: 6-foot-1, 205 pound catcher possesses an athletic frame with good flexibility.  Good mobility.  Shifts well with pitches, especially with breaking balls.  Solid receiver and blocker.  On throws down to 2B stands straight up.  Arm is strong and accurate at 78 mph.  Mechanically needs to clean up.  Very coachable.  Pop times were 2.11-2.17. At the plate starts open in an athletic setup.  Loads back with a slight arm bar.  Stride is short with good use of the lower half.  Showcased average bat speed with a long, level path to the baseball.  Pull-side hitter with some pop.  Overall good rhythm throughout the swing.  Registered an exit velo of 82 mph.

1/19/14 - 6-foot-1, 210-pound prospect with strong/physical frame, showed solid receiving skills and good lateral movement behind the plate, above average arm strength at 76 mph from the crouch, had difficulty throwing to the bag, pop time was 2.30 (has been 2.17-2.26 at previous event).  At the plate, hits from a balanced setup with minimal stride, inconsistent use of lower half, shows some raw strength in swing, , ran 4.94 down the first base line, 91 mph tee exit velocity.

Knuck: 60-61
2/18/13: Phillips is a raw framed catcher with a quick arm. His best pop time of the day was 2.17, which will quicken as he grows into his athleticism. At the plate, Phillips showed flashes of having raw power. The swing was inconsistent. He worked with a short stride good balanced swing. When the lower half cleared he showed the ability to drive the baseball. Phillips also pitched with a short arm action throwing more like a catcher. He did display above average arm strength for his class at 78. Phillips is someone to keep an eye on behind the plate in the coming years.
