Sunday’s trip to Kansas City gave our staff another look at the top backstop in the state’s sophomore class, C Charlie Foote (Blue Valley Southwest, 2028). A standout at last summer’s Central Super Sophomore Games, Foote continues to show impact bat potential from an athletic left-handed swing that has proven it can handle some of the region’s best arms. He squared his best ball at 95.1 mph in this look, averaging 87.8 mph as he continues to add strength and polish at the plate to go along with an already mature approach. Defensively, Foote remains one of the top catch-and-throw backstops in the state, posting 1.99–2.06 pop times with a 78 mph arm from the chute in this look.
