Coming off of a strong high school season and performance in the state tournament, LHP Grayton Gross (Salina Central, 2026) is one of the top young left-handers in the state. Gross showed the ability to command the zone with a four-pitch mix in Tuesday’s look, running his fastball up to 86 mph with 2,200+ RPM spin. Off of that, the junior spun a 2,300+ RPM curveball at 71-73 mph, a 2,400+ RPM slider at 80-81 mph, and tumbling changeup at 76-79 mph.

Arm Action: LH. Longer arm swing from over-the-top slot.
FB: T83, 82-83 mph. Plays straight with some carry. T2231, 2127 average rpm.
CB: 70-72 mph. Feel for the zone, 11/5 action. T2357, 2169 average rpm.
SL: 75-77 mph. Tight break, throws for strikes. T2207, 1682 average rpm.

Hit: RHH. Slightly open start in the box with weight distributed evenly. Hands start up with some bat waggle at load. Short stride. Advanced hand speed with a quick path to contact. Consistent hard contact with intent to elevate, some pull-side tendencies. 72.1 mph bat speed with 15 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 96 max exit velocity, averaged 91.0 mph. 334' max distance.
Arm: LH. OF-84 mph. Long, over-the-top arm swing.
Defense: Direct to the ball with athletic footwork. Utilizes crow-hop.
