2013 All-Sunflower League - 2nd Team
2013 Fall Kansas City Royals Scout Team
4/19/19: Well built frame, thick lower half, broad shoulders, stands 6-foot-4, 225-pounds. Very sound mechanically, even-paced, high knee lift, long clean arm-swing, loads up on his back side very well, throws from a high three-quarter, close to an over the top slot. Fastball range was 91-94 mph, pounded the bottom part of the strike zone, showed feel for a 83-85 mph slider, while having some luck with a 80-81 mph CH/Split. (Cevette)
3/16/19: As the Razorback's Friday night guy, Campbell is doing exactly what he needs to do to lead the Hogs atop the SEC standings and raise his draft value from last season...stay healthy and pitch deeper into games. Last season he averaged just four innings per start. On Friday night during the SEC conference opener, he went seven innings on 100 pitches while striking out 11. It was a dominant performance featuring a 90-94 mph fastball, a plus 82-85 mph slider and an average split/change at 84-87 mph. Overall, he looked very similar to my look last spring during Week Nine. If he stays healthy and continues to pitch deeper into games (currently averaging 6 IP per start this spring) his decision to return to Fayetteville after turning down pro opportunities as a third-year sophomore draft last June will be a profitable one. He profiles as a starter in professional baseball with an easy, repeatable delivery, three quality pitches and good control (4 BB, 44 SO in 30 IP this spring). (Seifert)
4/18/18 - 6’4/225, Redshirt Soph- Athletic righty who has trimmed up his body after bone spur surgery halted his 2017 season after just one appearance. Generated easy velocity with a shoulder tilt delivery. Hid the ball well and released from an over-hand slot. Lands soft and on-line. Balanced, smooth and repeatable delivery. Fastball velocity ranged from 90-93 mph with down angle from his high slot. Had good carry to the plate. Worked the fastball in and out, showing arm side bore at times. Kept his short-breaking slider down in the zone at 82-83 mph. Featured a 75-77 mph curveball with 12/6 rotation and average depth. Slowed his arm a bit on the pitch, yet it was still effective as he repeated it for strikes. Flashed an occasional changeup at 85-87 mph. Good athlete who fields his position well and covers first base quickly. Consistent to the plate at 1.24-1.27 from the stretch. Overall, was not overpowering, instead got outs from his pitch mix and command. Pitched to contact and worked efficiently. Threw 66 pitches in five innings. Induced nine flyouts and five groundouts. With a repeatable delivery, easy arm action and a four-pitch arsenal, Campbell profiles as a starter and should be selected around the third round. However, as a redshirt sophomore with two years of college eligibility remaining, he has some leverage. His signability will play a significant role in where he is ultimately selected. (Seifert)
2/22/18 - First appearance back after bone chip surgery injury and red-shirting in 2017. Struggled with command early. Shaking off the rust. Fastball mostly 89-91, touched 94 in the first inning. FB was straight, but shoulder tilt delivery gave him some downhill plane. Curveball had bite 73-76, good pitch when he stayed on top. Cutting change-up at 82-86. Inconsistent stuff. (Seifert)
