Van Horn is a strong 5-foot-11, 180-pound, right-handed hitting catcher with a stocky build. At the event, he ran a 7.81 second 60 and posted an exit velocity of 84 mph. At the plate, Van Horn, starts in an athletic position, rhythm to his load, loose hands, leverages front side, looks to lift the baseball, sprayed hard contact throughout batting practice. Behind the plate, clean transfers, clean arm action working from an over the top release, positional velo of 72 mph, mostly accurate throws, pop times between 2.11-2.33 seconds.

Van Horn is a 5-foot-11 175-pound right-handed hitting catcher in Kansas' 2020 class.  He ran a 4.57 home to first and has a 75 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced stance, loads with weight shift against back side, minimal hand movement, loose and free hands, generates bat whip, gap to gap line drives.  Behind the plate, pop times between 2.09 and 2.33-seconds, 70 mph positional velocity, mostly accurate throws on line with the bag, clean exchange on time with fluid footwork, over the top release, staggered set up to receive.

2/24/18 - Van Horn is an athletically built 5-foot-11 165-pound right-handed hitting catcher in Kansas’ 2020 class.  He ran a 4.71 home to first and has an 81 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced stance, slightly closed stride, loose hands with quick bat speed and level path, gap to gap approach.  Behind the plate, pop times between 2.20 and 2.27seconds, 71 mph positional velocity, fluid footwork with quick glove to hand transfer, mostly accurate throws, some with carry.

2/16/18 - Van Horn is a 5-foot-11 165-pound right-handed hitting catcher in Kansas’ 2020 class.  He ran a 4.56 home to first and has a 78 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced set up, some pre-pitch rhythm in hands, small and smooth weight shift in back side, slightly closed stride, level path, gap to gap line drives, has ability to go the other way.  Behind the plate, 2.02 to 2.20-second pop times, 73 mph positional velocity, high three quarters arm slot, quick transfer with fluid footwork, works through the catch wit momentum, fluid footwork, accurate throws, occasional carry.

10/22/17 - Van Horn is a 5-foot-10 160-pound right-handed hitting catcher and third baseman in Kansas’ 2020 class.  He ran a 7.75 60 and a 5.25 home to first.  He has an 81 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced stance, smooth load to back side, aggressive leg kick and swing path, doesn’t get cheated, showed pull side power, body stays under control, loose hands with quick bat speed.  Behind the plate, pop times between 2.03 and 2.15-seconds, 72 mph positional velo, loose over the top release, quick feet with fluid hand to glove transfer, athletic actions, throws have back spin carry, mostly accurate. On the infield, 77 mph positional velocity, plays game with high energy, short over the top release, smooth actions, stays under control, clean transfer, feet set up to throw, fields ball out front in athletic position.
