Steven Azzaro: C, (2021) St James Academy, KS. 6-foot-2, 180-pound lean frame. During batting practice, Azzaro had a max exit velocity of 85 mph. Began in a balanced stance with a high load, then used a long stride before his swing. Bat speed is average, exhibits upward swing plane and high finish. He Barreled up some balls during the round. Line drive approach. While catching, recorded pop times of 2.15-2.19, he made throws to second at velocities up to 73 mph; shows a natural exchange, sure hands and quick feet. Narrow setup with average flexibility. Had an-over-the-top slot and a short arm action. In the 60-yard dash, his time was 7.32.

Azzaro is a 6-foot-1, 170-pound, right-handed hitting catcher and right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2021 class. At the event he ran a 7.61 second 60 and posted an exit velocity of 79 mph. During hitting evaluations, Azzaro has a balanced stance, simple weight shift load, uphill swing, remains balanced throughout, showed primarily pull contact during round. Behind the plate, athletic set up, clean footwork, high three quarter release, positional velo of 70 mph, pop times between 2.26 and 2.40 seconds, mostly accurate throws. On the mound, Azzaro shows a repeatable delivery with some effort, good direction towards home plate, balanced finish, high three quarter release. Fastball sits 70-75 mph, tops at 76 mph, arm side run, thrown for strikes, produced soft contact during game action with two seam, curveball is 57-58 mph, gradual action.

Azzaro is a 6-foot-1 170 pound right-handed hitting catcher, right-handed pitcher and infielder in Kansas' 2021 class.  He ran a 4.39 home to first and has a 75 mph exit velocity. At the plate, balanced set up, smooth load to back side, reverse toe tap, level path with middle of the field approach.  Behind the plate, 2.17 to 2.40 pop times, 70 mph positional velocity, mostly accurate throws with carry to the bag, over the top release, clean exchange on time with fluid footwork. On the infield, over the top release, gains ground with footwork after the catch, clean exchange, 72 mph positional velocity. On the mound, comes from a high three quarters arm slot, stays in line down the mound, level shoulders, finishes in balanced position, fastball worked 70-73 mph, works change up at 58-61 mph, near fastball arm speed, slight late sinking action.

1/26/19 - Azzaro is a 6-foot-1 170-pound right-handed hitting catcher and right-handed pitcher in Kansas’ 2021 class.  He ran a 4.62 home to first and has a 77 mph exit velocity. At the plate, starts with weight in back side, toe tap to load, short in line stride, smooth swing the no wasted movements, level path with high finish, controlled, middle to pull side contact.  Behind the plate, balanced stance with some pre-pitch rhythm in hands, weight shift to back side with some hand load, in line stride, middle to opposite field line drives during hitting evals.  Behind the plate, pop times between 2.15 and 2.31-seconds, 72 mph positional velocity, square set up in base, clean exchange, over the top arm slot, controlled actions, mostly accurate throws. Some with carry to the bag. On the mound, Azzaro comes from an over the top arm slot, quick tempo in delivery, slides foot across rubber, lands slightly open, finishes in position ready to field the ball, throws with some effort, fastball at 69-73 mph, some with late sinking action, change up at 62-66 mph, near fastball arm speed, throws for strikes.

2/24/18 - Azzaro is a lean 6-foot-1 158-pound right-handed hitting catcher and right-handed pitcher and infielder in Kansas’ 2021 class.  He ran a 4.83 home to first and has an 80 exit velocity. At the plate, balanced stance, calm reverse to tap, creates direction towards the pitch with in line weight shift, quiet hands with level path through the zone, gap to gap approach.  Behind the plate, pop times between 2.28 and 2.44 seconds, 67 mph positional velocity, high three quarters arm slot, high set up with slightly staggered feet, clean exchanges with fluid footwork, mostly accurate throws. On the infield, 65 mph positional velocity, over the top arm slot, fluid transfer, accurate thrower, fluid footwork to the ball creates slight momentum to throw. On the mound, Azzaro comes from an over the top arm slot, choppy tempo, long take away from glove, in line down the mound, throws with regular effort, finishes in athletic position, fastball at 69-71 mph,, breaking ball at 53-55 mph, 11-to-5  shape, 55-57 mph change up, slight sink, near fastball arm speed
