Super 60: At 6-foot-1, 170 pounds, Archer isn’t physically imposing, but he featured one of the best fastballs at the Super 60. He has added 20 pounds since the 2012 Midwest Future Games, which has contributed to increased velocity in the last 18 months. He touched 94 mph on Sunday, tying an event record, and sat 92-93 with a short, quick arm from a high-3/4 slot. While his secondary stuff lacks refinement, he showed a four-pitch mix with a 73-75 curveball, 81-83 changeup and 80-83 slider. He pitches slightly across his body, but the velocity alone will have scouts following him throughout the spring. He is committed to Missouri State.
Future Games: Perhaps the biggest surprise on the mound at the Midwest Future Games was RHP Brad Archer from Lebanon HS. The 6-foot, 155-pounder saw his stock rise, sitting 86-88-mph, and as his frame continues to fill out, he has the tools to be a consistent upper 80’s arm. Archer showed some feel for his breaking ball and change up, producing ground ball after ground ball in four innings of work.
KC Prospect ID: The 6-foot, 150-pound RHP showcased a feel for three pitches while operating from a high ¾ arm slot. Archer displayed a long, clean arm action with a fastball that sat 80-83 mph and displayed sink down in the zone. His sharp curveball is a legitimate out pitch and showed 12-to-6 shape with tight spin.  He also commanded a changeup that exhibited some sink and was located down in the zone. Offensively, he displayed a level, well-balanced swing that consistently produced line drives gap to gap.

All State Invitational:
Archer is a strong, athletically built two-way player who has a projectable build for the next level.  With his 6-foot-1, 152-pound frame that is no where near it’s maturity, Archer has the potential to be a top level player by the time is his done growing. On the mound, Archer has an over the top arm slot and was sitting at 79-81 mph with his fastball, with more in the tank.  He also showed feel for his sharp 11-to-5 breaking ball, which has the potential to be a legitimate out pitch as it gets more consistent. Archer also throws a change up with some late sink, a pitch that he is still developing and learning to throw. In the field, he showed concise lateral footwork and soft hands at third base with a quick transfer. Offensively, Archer features a balanced setup at the plate with quick hands that creates some whip through the zone with his level bat path. He also ran 7.16 60.
