A fastball with hop has a flat approach angle and visually jumps through the zone. When thrown up in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher swing and miss average. Hop+ of 100 is MLB average.
Fastball
Sink+
A fastball with sink has low backspin and drops through the strike zone. When thrown down in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher ground ball percentage and lower launch angle. Sink+ of 100 is MLB average.
Fastball
Rise+
A fastball with rise has a high percentage of backspin. When thrown up in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher fly ball percentage. Rise+ of 100 is MLB average
Curveball
Hammer+
A hammer breaking ball drops vertically with velocity through the zone, or 12-to-6 movement. Hammer+ of 100 is MLB average.
Curveball
Sweep+

An intriguing two-way follow from the Show Me State, RHP/INF Howie Donoho (Chillicothe, MO, 2027) put together one of the more impressive all around performances on the day. Donoho swung a compact right-handed barrel at the plate, barreling his best ball 345 feet at 92 mph. However, where Donoho really stood out was on the mound. The 6-foot, 183-pound sophomore once again saw an uptick in his stuff, commanding the zone with a fastball at 85-87 mph (T88.1 mph). He also showed advanced feel to land a curveball, slider, changeup mix for strikes at 66-68 mph, 68-69 mph, and 78-80 mph respectively.
9/07/24
INF/RHP Howie Donoho (Chillicothe, 2027) continues to impress our staff on both sides of the ball with every look. A 5-foot-11, 183-pound all around athlete, Donoho swung a quick, compact barrel from the right side of the plate, barreling his best ball 333 feet at 92.9 mph while also showing the ability to hit in game. However, where Donoho impressed the most was on the mound where he saw a big jump in velocity, pitching at 84-86 mph with his fastball, topping out at 87 mph, and consistently landing a curveball/changeup mix for strikes.
