At the plate, Zellak has an abbreviated leg lift in his load, in line stride, level bat path, and showed extension through contact. Defensively, Zellak was balanced, solid footwork, a quick transfer, positional velo of 71 mph and pop times ranging from 2.13-2.23 with mostly accurate throws.
2/12/17 - Zellak is a 5-foot-11 195-pound right-handed hitting catcher and third baseman in Missouri’s 2018 class. He ran a 7.65 laser timed 60 and a 4.66 home to first. He has n 82 mph exit velo, with a strong frame. At the plate, tall stance, internal rotation to load, short in line stride, middle of the field approach. Behind the plate, 2.22 to 2.27 pop times, 75 mph positional velo, both velo and pop times among the top for the event, high three quarters release, fluid footwork with clean exchange, somewhat accurate throws with misses to first base side of bag. On the infield, 75 mph positional velo, short three quarters release with clean transfer, somewhat accurate throws.
1/21/17 - 5-foot-11, 195 pound strong built catching prospect. Behind the plate transfers the ball from his glove to his hand fluidly throwing a strike down to 2B. Shows strong blocking ability tucking his chin while absorbing the ball into his chest protector. At 3B stays low, fielding the ball out front throwing from a high 3/4 arm angle across the diamond. Balanced setup at the plate with his hands held chest high. Uses minimal hand movement with a leg lift during the load keeping his barrel in the hitting zone.

5-foot-11, 190-pound catcher ran a 7.57 60 yard sprint. Compact stocky build. Slightly open stance at the plate, strides to a slight arm bar with a long downhill swing plane. Line drive and ground ball contact, all fields approach. Posted an exit velocity of 80 mph off a tee. Behind the plate, threw in the 2.10-2.22 range. Wide set up, hands and body have a tendency to get beat to the spot. Fundamentally sound blocking technique.
