2/15/15 - Schmidt is a 6-foot 170-pound right-handed pitcher, touched 85 mph several times, hard run on fastball, works from a high three-quarters arm slot, quick arm speed, throws with some effort, smooth rhythm during delivery with deception, hides ball at balance point, 11-to-5 shape on curveball, sharp/late action, 67-71 mph, 73-75 mph change-up, hard arm side sink, plus-movement on all pitches.
10/5/14 - Schmidt worked a complete game on the mound in a 2-0 win in the semifinals.  He touched 82 mph with his fastball on the last pitch of the game, and showed a 69-70 mph curveball with late 11-to-5 shape.  Schmidt showed a strong arm and fluid footwork at third defensively.
6/17/14 - Schmidt is an athletic 5-foot-10 160-pound RHP.  His fastball had hard run and was clocked at 81-85 MPH, one of the highest of the event.  Schmidt’s curveball has 11-to-5 movement with sharp, late break.  He has a 3/4 release, which can allow his curveball to have more of a slider action.  He throws with some deception, hiding the ball from batters.  Schmidt has a quick arm and gets down the mound with regular effort.  Schmidt still has the ability to add velocity to his fastball as he develops.

6/17/14 – Schmidt is a 5-foot-10 160-pound third baseman.  Schmidt has a positional velo of 85 MPH, one of the top for the event.  He has a high ¾ release and plays through the ball.  Schmidt has a clean, quick hand-to-glove transfer and makes mostly accurate throws.  At the plate, Schmidt line drive approach with some pop to his pull gap.  He has a minimal stride with repeatable mechanics.  Schmidt posted an exit velo of 80 MPH.  He runs a 4.63 home-to-first and a 7.66 60.
1/20/14 – Schmidt is an athletic 5-foot-10 150-pound right hand hitting 2B/3B.  He posted one of the best positional velos of the event at 82 MPH.  He has a clean, quick transfer that produces accurate throws across the diamond.  He throws from over-the-top with his arm action and has the ability to work through ball.  At the plate, Schmidt has a gap-to-gap approach and a level bat path that produces consistent line drives.  He has an athletic stance and  good balance throughout the swing.  His exit velo was 79 MPH and he runs a 7.61 60.
1/20/14 – Schmidt showed continued progress on the mound as much as he did in the field at the event.  The 5-foot-10 150-pound right hander showed command of three pitches in the zone for a strike, including a fastball at 83 MPH.  He has a quick arm and throws from a ¾ arm slot.  His fastball registered 81-83 on the gun late cut.  His curveball has an 11/5 shape with a late break at 67-69 MPH.  He throws with change-up with near fastball arm speed at 73-75 MPH.  Schmidt showed why he could climb in the rankings in the 2016 class.
8/25/13 - Schmidt showed to be one of the more polished players at the event, with plenty of room to progress. The 5-foot-9, 140-pound Schmidt showed ability to command three pitches on the mound, a fastball that topped at 79-mph with cut action, a late breaking 11-to-5 breaking ball (66-69 mph), and a 71-72 mph change up thrown with near fastball arm speed showing arm side run and sink action. Schmidt comes from a ¾ arm slot with quick arm speed. In the field, Schmidt displays sure hands with rage to both his backhand and glove hand sides. His arm action is short and quick, delivering a top throw of 75-mph across the field. At the plate, Schmidt’s hands start high and he brings them down to the ball, creating a level swing plane with extension through contact while hitting the ball to all fields. His top exit velocity was 79-mph off the bat.
