2/18/13:  A two-way player, the 6-foot-3, 190-pound Allgeyer continues to see his stock rise as he keeps progressing over multiple PBR events. In the outfield, Allgeyer shows fluid and controlled footwork to the ball, while playing through the ball with all throws on a line and a top throw of 85-mph. At the plate, the left handed hitter has a slightly open stance with a smooth load and good rhythm and balance throughout his swing. He takes a level path to the baseball and showed ability to hit line drives to all fields.  Allgeyer had a top exit velocity of 87-mph. On the mound, the left handed throwing Allgeyer has a loose, quick arm with easy effort on all pitches. His velocity continues to creep up and all pitches showed good movement. Allgeyer showed a heavy fastball that topped at 82-mph with arm side run and sink action. He also showed a sharp, two-plane breaking ball (67-70 mph) with fastball arm speed and a 70-72 mph change up down in the zone with late arm side run.

Allgeyer is a projectable 6-3, 190-pound two way player who excelled in all facets of his game. On the mound, the left-handed thrower has good rhythm and throws with easy effort. His fastball sat 77-79 mph, topping at 80-mph, and we think there is more in the tank as his frame continues to fill out. Allgeyer’s breaking ball had late 1-to-7 shape with near fastball arm speed and was consistently thrown for a strike. He also showed a change up that at times had arm side run.  In the outfield, Allgeyer takes good routes while playing through the ball. He gets in good position to throw to his targets, with a top throw of 81-mph with some carry.  Offensively, the left-handed hitter has good rhythm with an easy, level swing and extension through contact, delivering consistent line drives gap-to-gap. Allgeyer also ran a 7.28 60

Allgeyer has a long, projectable body that should translate well at the next level as he continues to mature physically. The 6-foot-2, 180-pound left-hander took good routes to the ball in the outfield, consistently staying behind the ball and keeping his momentum toward his target. He has a long loose arm and played through the ball with accurate throws (78 mph) to third and home. At the plate, the left-handed hitter is quite in the box with little wasted movement. He takes an economical bat path to the ball, bringing his hands through the zone with level extension through contact that produced line drives. On the mound, the lefty comes from a ¾ arm slot and showed feel for three pitches; a 75-77 mph (topping out at 78 mph), a 66 mph breaking ball with two plane break, and a 72-73 mph change up with some late sink. Look for a spike in velocity as Allgeyer continues to progress.

6’3/225, Red-shirt Junior. Tall, strong bodied lefty who can really pitch. Showed very good body control while creating deception by hesitating during different parts of his windup. Plus control of his off speed pitches, especially a 74-78 mph curveball. Threw it to both sides of the plate and varied its shape at times. It played above average. Also mixed in a fading changeup at 82-84. Showed arm strength on a straight fastball up to 91 mph, while working mostly in the 88-90 range. Kept the Virginia Tech hitters off-balance and guessing most of the afternoon, pitching seven strong innings, allowing five hits and one run, while striking out eight
