The left handed-hitting backstop has pressed with the bat throughout this spring (.223/.380/.415). He set up with a spread, squat stance and showed good strength, but marginal bat speed and some length to a dead pull, rotational swing. He did manage to muscle a ball through the 4-hole (43 mph EV) and barrel two liners (98, 93 EVs) to right field, all for singles to finish 3-for-10 in the series. However, much swing/miss (five strikeouts in 12 plate appearances) and out front passes were more the norm in the batter's box. Behind the plate he showcased easy 70-grade arm strength with accurate throws to the bag. He was 1-for-1 throwing out base stealers in the series and is 9-for-28 (32%) this season. He's long been known to have advanced receiving and blocking skills as one of the top defensive catchers in college baseball. Once a potential Day One draft pick, Dunhurst is likely to now be considered mid-Day Two.

The lefthanded-hitting backstop looked to be pressing with the bat. Set up with a spread, squat stance, he showed big strength, but marginal bat speed and some length to a pull dominant swing. Dunhurst finished the summer 4-for-25 with 10 strikeouts. Behind the plate he showcased his easy 65-grade arm with accurate throws to the bag and a 1.96 in-game POP. Dunhurst also showed advanced receiving and blocking skills. With continued improvement to his .280/.385/.435 slash he produced as a sophomore in Oxford, expect Dunhurst to received strong consideration for the first round next summer.
