Physical: Big-bodied 6-foot-2, 230lb frame with extra strength. 7.59 runner in the 60-yard dash.

Offensively: RHH - Taller, open stance with the barrel showing slight pre-pitch rhythm on the shoulder. Utilized an east/west move to a deep slotted launch, initiating an accurate, lifted path into the hitting zone. Connected well with some hip/shoulder separation in a violent approach. Demolished pitches thrown out over the plate where he could gain extension, posting a T100 mph bat-exit velocity at his peak and 368 foot batted ball distance (via Trackman). 

Defensively: The primary first baseman moved around adequately around the bag with medium posture. Set up at a narrow base as the feet kept moving towards the target. Got the hips/shoulders in-line before a shorter arm circled release from H ¾ (79 mph arm).


Physical: Strong, advanced 6-foot-2, 230lb football frame with durability found. 7.72 runner in the 60-yard dash.

Offensively: RHH - Upright, slightly open stance with calm rhythm on the shoulder pre-swing. Utilized a toe tap stride, getting into the legs at a wider attack on the land; initiated through a sudden, whippy, slightly uphill path into the hitting zone sequencing to perfection and creating a heavy bat head at impact. Generated big-time juice to pull, working up to a near 400 foot batted ball distance during his round (395 feet per Trackman). Added a T101 mph bat-exit velocity en route to a loud, middle of the order approach (60% fly ball rate, 80% hard hit rate). Home run power and a bat to follow in his class. 

Defensively: The primary first baseman showcased medium, upright posture with choppy feet and a soft glove hand that showed on-time to the ball. Bent at the waist, funneling inward off the middle of his body with adequate feel around the bag. H ¾ release and accuracy across the diamond (80 mph arm). 


Physical: 6-foot-1, 230 pounds; strength present through a muscular frame. 7.9 runner in the 60.
Offensively: RHH. Wide feet with some weight loaded on the back side, floats the hands around shoulder height with an upright bat; uses a small weight shift and stride forward, wraps the bat around his head. Strong, repeatable movements out of the lower half, clears consistently with slightly uphill barrel path, stays connected throughout the swing providing some pop in the barrel. Hit deep fly balls all over the left side of the field, no doubt middle of the order hitter with lots of juice; peak Trackman exit velocity of 96 MPH.
Defensively: Shoulder width feet, weight shifted forward on the balls of his feet with an extended glove arm; Laid back steps to the ball, chops the feet as he is about to field to get himself around the ball. Easy hands with a clean transfer; long reach back out of the glove, throws from a low 3/4 slot with some snap in his arm. INF - 77 MPH. 


Physical: 6-foot-1, 230 pounds; full, thick frame. Strong lower half. 7.65 runner in the 60. 
Offensively: RHH. Slightly open, feet outside shoulders with weight pre-loaded to his back side; Strides back to even with slight barrel wrap around his head. Consistent lower half clearance; finishes through contact. Stays short and gets on  plane and stays on plane; high one-handed finish.  Hard line drives through the middle with some present pop to the pull side; middle of the order prototype; peak Trackman exit velocity of 101 MPH. 
Defensively: Tall with slight lean at the belt; short, methodical steps into the ball. Soft hands, mostly out in front; moderate arm swing with low 3/4 release.  INF - 73 MPH. 


Physical: 6-foot-0, 210-pounds. Strong, physical build; 4.62 home-to-1B.
Offensively: RHH. Athletic, relaxed stance, wide base, bat rests just above back shoulder, uses a bat waggle and a toe tap for timing Quick hands through the zone, swing path is slightly uphill generating some loft, good use of lower half. Sprays the ball to all fields, has pull-side pop. 91 MPH raw exit velocity.
Defensively: Starts upright and shows glove early, could do a better job of getting lower when fielding, fields the ball in the middle of his body, smooth hands. Medium arm swing with a low 3/4 slot.  INF - 73 MPH.
Pitching: Works up tempo building momentum with high leg lift, strides out in line with slight shoulder tilt into a balanced follow through. Long, fluid arm swing with a clean 3/4 release.
FB: T78, 76-78 MPH. Commands in the zone.
CB: 63-65 MPH. Sharp 12-6 break.
CH: 66-66 MPH. Arm side run/fade.


A strong build at 6-foot-0 tall,210 pounds. Ran a 7.96 in the 60 yard dash. Offensively- Stands in the box in a tall stance and slightly open. Takes a short stride towards the baseball. Shows a strong swing. Ball jumps off the bat. Showed consistent line drives to the middle part of the field. Gets good use of the lower half and full extension after the point of contact. Top exit velocity was 89 MPH. Defensively- Showed active footwork. Above average funnel actions. Moves well side to side. Shows a smooth exchange to a quick release from a mid ¾ arm slot. Top throwing velocity was 73 MPH. Pitching- Displayed a repeatable delivery and a projectable arm. Works mainly from the left side of the rubber.  Takes his time to gather himself to a balanced backside. Uses a high knee lift into an early hand separation. Drives downhill on plane. Shows good FB command. Ranged from 75-76 MPH and peaked at 78 MPH.  Shows feel for a CB with command ranging from 68-69 MPH. And feel for a CH around the zone at 71-72 MPH. The 2022 graduate is a must follow.

ENY ASG (September 15, 2018)

Ran a 7.78 60 Yard Dash. Offensively - Relaxed, open stance in he box. Loads with a controlled leg kick and pulls hands back to create separation. Level swing that produces consistent line-drive contact. Shows a natural feel for finding the barrel. Hits the ball hard with ease. Exit Velocity was 87 MPH. Defensively - Quick and soft feet at 3B. Maintains control of his body while transitioning from fielding into throwing. Low 3/4 release point. Arm action on throwing motion is still a little long but Arm Strength has gone up to 75 MPH. Pitching - Balanced delivery with consistent direction towards his target. Keeps weight over backside as he gets into landing. Strong lead leg allows him to get quality extension on all of his offerings. FB was consistently 75-76 MPH and topped at 77. Shows heavy life. CB has 11/5 shape in the 64-66 MPH range. Manipulates his CB effectively, it should develop into an above average pitch. The baseball skills are starting to catch up to Bernard Jr's impressive physical talent.

Campus Series - St. Rose (July 10, 2018)

Physical, proportional frame at 5-foot-11, 180-pounds. Offensively - Starts with an open stance, gets square to the pitcher as he lands out of his leg lift. Hands stay on the back shoulder and create a level swing plane. Extension after contact when timing is on. Line contact now, should develop into more lift/power down the road. Exit Velocity was 85 MPH. Defensively -Handles glove hand well when fielding. Light on his feet. Shows body control moving laterally. Long arm action that could shorten up to better suit a corner infield spot. 72 MPH arm strength. Pitching - Strong and durable pitching build. Low effort and controlled actions. Consistently repeats his motion. Arm is long and loose from a ¾ slot. FB was 77-78 MPH with downward plane and heavy life. CB has 11/5 shape at 66-68 MPH. Shows quality feel for the pitch; effectively tunnels it with his FB. Overall, big, strong and physical baseball player with good actions and a high ceiling.

July 2018

Stands 6-foot-1 190-pounds with a projectable frame. Wide open stance, has a slight bat wiggle. Barrel is flat through the hitting zone. Bat speed is average. Defensively- has solid footwork with fluid arm action. Fields the ball out front smoothly with a quick release.

Bombers Tryout (November 19, 2017)

Bernard is a solid 5-foot-11 180 pound 3B/RHP with a strong lower half.  He ran a 8.42 60Offensively - Right handed hitter with squared stance with weight 50/50 split.  Utilized high leg kick and gets excellent use of hips in launch phase of swing; produced consistent line drive contact. Exit velocity an impressive 83 MPH off a tee.  Defensively - Plays tall for a 3B but athletic on his feet. Infield velocity was 73 MPH. Athletic tools are there. Body type points to corner infield down the road. Plenty of time for arm to continue to develop to stay at 3B. Pitching - Sets up in the middle of the mound and throws from a low ¾ arm slot.  Fastball sat 71-73 MPH, CB was 62-64 from more of a ¾ arm slot; moved across the zone with more of a slider /slurve feel.  Delivered more consistent strikes from the the stretch position.  Simplification of wind up mechanics may improve and add to his velo. Promising young player with plenty of time to develop.
