WNY Prospect Preview (July 5, 2016)

Jack is a 5-foot-9, 165 pound C. He ran home to 1B in 4.74. Offensively- Jack starts with his feet shoulder width apart with his hands at shoulder level. His bat is almost vertical. He uses a small step to get separation with his hands and get his bat into a better angle.. He uses an aggressive rotation of the hips to gain bat speed. Jack brings his hands slightly around the ball which resulted in fly balls to left field with an exit velocity of 81 MPH. Defensively- Sits low to the ground; quiet receiver; uses a large step through to throw down to second base. Occasion gets tall, losing valuable time.  Best pop time was 2.10; throws on the bag.  While blocking, Jack gets to his left knee before his right knee which slightly pushes the ball to first base; recovers well after block. Arm strength of 74 MPH.
