Western NY Prospect Preview (July 6, 2016)
Jake is an athletic 6-foot, 210 pound Catcher. He ran a 4.4 home to 1B, but has shown as quick as 4.24. Offensively- Jake starts in an athletic stance, with his weight visibly starting on his back foot. His hands start chest high towards his back shoulder. Has a quiet load and quick hands to the ball. Takes a relatively small stride and bat comes cleanly through the zone; elevates with his finish. His exit velocity was clocked at 87 MPH. Produced mostly pull side flyballs with a steady mix of solid line drives. Defensively-  Jake squats in a balanced upright position. He receives the ball with strong wrists. Arm strength behind the plate was 75 MPH with his best pop time at 2.09. Has quick feet and hands when throwing down to 2nd. While blocking, Jake has the proper turn over and gets himself in good position, however had a slower recovery getting to the ball.
New York Games (June 27-29, 2016)
Stands 6-foot, 210-pounds with a thick durable build. Numbers continue to improve across the board for this backstop. Ran a 7.16 60-yard dash, Exit velocity up to 92-mph and arm velocity from behind the plate up to 75-mph. Offensively- Sets up with a wide balanced base with consistently smooth load patterns. Shows compact explosive path to the ball with good extension at finish. As far as catchers go he's one of the premier bats we've seen in the state, consistently showing power to the opposite field gap while still hitting for average. Defensively- Behind the plate he shows great understanding for game management and good ability to receive. Pop time hovers around 2.0-2.1 with accuracy.  With a powerful bat and ability to move elsewhere on the field as well as catching he's an attractive prospect at the next level.

April 2016
Zurat stands 5-foot-11, 200-pounds with a strong lower half. Behind the dish Zurat shows + receiving ability.  Pop time was consistent between a 2.15-2.2 during warm ups and was consistently around the bag. At the plate Zurat sets up outside shoulder width, uses an easy load and keeps the bat compact and level through the zone.  Against Hamburg he drove a double hard to left center for one of the only extra base hits on the day.
Preseason All-State (Feb 28, 2016)
Jake stands 5-foot-11, 215-pounds with a thick strong build.  Offensively- Zurat has stood out with increased pop in his bat topping 92 mph with his exit speed recently.  At the plate he sets up just outside shoulder width with a short stride. Longer bat-path but very consistent through the zone producing a lot of hard contact,  finishes high. Defensively- Zurat shows next-level receiving ability and has hovered around 2.0-2.16 with his pop time at recent events.  hough there's still room for gains in arm-strength department, the natural athletic-ability and increased juice in the bat make him an attractive prospect in the 2017 class.

WNY Pro Holiday Clinic (December 19, 2015)
This 5-foot-11, 215-pound backstop has a solid linebacker type build that has made him very appealing to many Division 1 programs early on.  Offensively- At the plate he starts with a wide balanced base and uses a slight weight transfer in combination with a short stride.  He shows potential for next level pop at the plate with an 85 exit velo already.  With some loose rhythm added into the upper half he may generate even more bat speed.  Bat path was consistent through the zone, showing consistent gap to gap approach. Defensively- Behind the plate he sets up with a relaxed approach and shows good glove control and sound fundamentals.  Though the pop time was a sufficient 2.04, there’s a lot of room to still improve with a quicker release.  Overall with +body, good speed and a power potential at the plate, Zurat looks to be a top end backstop in New York State this year.
 WNY All-Star Games (August 27, 2015)
Stands at 5-foot-9, 190 pounds, with an athletic body build.  He ran a 4.46 Home to 1st from the right-hand side.  Defensively- As a catcher, he receives the ball with smooth, soft hands and has a clean transfer.  His arm was very accurate to second base.  He blocks the ball nicely and keeps everything in front of him.  His pop times improved and were consistently at 2.00 down to second base.  His arm strength was 74 MPH.  Offensively- At the plate his setup is relaxed and balanced, short stride, with a back load.  His hands seemed quicker to the ball, swinging with some uphill tilt, with a mid-section to shoulder high finish through the ball, displays good extension through the ball.  His exit velocity was 85 MPH.

Western New York Games (August 2015)

Offensively-  At the plate setup is relaxed and balanced, short stride, with a back load.  His hands are long, over the plate, swinging with some uphill tilt, with a mid-section finish through the ball.  His exit velocity was 86 MPH.

New York Games (July 7-9, 2015)
Stands at 5-foot-9, 190 pounds, with an athletic body build.  Defensively- Jake was a catcher who throws with cut off and after the throw recoils.  He receives the ball with smooth, soft hands and has a clean transfer. Offensively- At the plate setup is relaxed and balanced, short stride, with a back load.  His hands are long, over the plate, swinging with some uphill tilt, with a mid-section finish through the ball.

Western NY Winter Combine (January 3, 2015)
Zurat stands 5-foot-9, 190-pounds and is well put together with some raw tools. Defensively-  Shows athletic footwork and average arm strength at this time.  With some work on his blocking/receiving skills could turn out to be a solid college backstop.  Also a standout Hockey goalie, Zurat shows a competitive attitude that coaches like to see in their Catcher. Offensively- At the plate Jake starts with a balanced stance with little movement.  He has a short path to the ball.  For the strength that he has in his lower body he has not learned yet how to use it all.  With his raw athletic ability and strength, he shows a lot of potential to hit for power by the time his junior year rolls around.
