5-foot, 90 pounds, gamer mentality. Ran an 8.95 sixty yard dash. A switch hitting middle infielder, Mainolfi’s tee exit velocity was measured up to 61 MPH. Natural level bat path, promising bat-to-ball skills from both sides of the plate. Pull oriented approach. Feet set up a little more than shoulder width apart with loose hands that work from the shoulder. Good balance, plants lead leg early. Showed more pop than expected. Working out at shortstop, there was twitchiness in his actions and good footwork. Glove works well on forehand and backhand. Quick, clean arm action from a ¾ slot, gets ball out of his hand quickly. Throws clocked up to 60 MPH across the diamond. Advanced double play turns for someone his age, already comfortable changing arm slots and working on different angles. His active mind for the game may have been biggest takeaway at the workout. With makeup and some tools, this kid is going to be a fun one to follow when he hits the high school level in two years.
