2/04/18

An upside bat that continues to impress in showcase settings. Creates a ton of energy with lower half through loading sequence, launching from a mostly balanced position. Barrel explodes through the zone with some natural loft to path. Swings with intent and generates impressive pop, especially to pull side. Looks to have calmed down movements a bit since we saw him last, showcasing a more controlled swing.  A primary first baseman that worked out in the outfield on the day. Looks new to the spot but has the arm for a corner position. Should only get better with reps.

60-yard dash: 7.63
Outfield Velocity: 82
Exit Velocity: 91

8/02/17

Nicodemo stood out in BP today amongst a talented group of Team Ohio hitters. The left-handed bat doesn’t get cheated at the plate. The combination of natural tools, physicality, and aggression make him fun to watch. Possesses all the tools to be a regular power threat down the road. A first baseman with some feel around the bag. Glove skills are average to slightly above average. Bat is his top tool but he has the functional athleticism to grow into a solid defender as he matures.

2/19/17

6-foot-1, 175-pound prospect with long, athletic frame. It’s tough to believe you are watching a freshman when Nicodemo is at the plate. A very physical frame for his age with electric bat speed. Has the look of a future power threat from the left side. Active feet around the bag at first. Aggressive to the ball with some quickness to his release. Top velocity of 77 mph out of a ¾ slot. On the mound, the left handed pitcher displays a functionally athletic frame that allows him to consistently repeat his delivery. Throws through a high ¾ slot with a recoil type finish. Fastball consistently sits between 73-74 mph. Breaking ball works through a 1/7 plane at 63-67 mph. Uses near fastball arm speed with changeup that sits 67-68 mph.

Exit Velocity: 93

6/28/16

6-foot-1, 175-pound impressively built prospect. Showing signs of being one of the top bats in his class. A left-handed swinger that is advanced both physically and mechanically for his age. Creates tons of energy into contact through a fluid but aggressive lower half. Ball jumped off his bat in batting practice and showed signs of power potential as he matures. Reached a top exit velocity of 86 mph. Recorded hits in two of his three at bats. A very athletic first baseman that has above average tools across the board. Has a natural feel for the position. Threw across the infield with 67 mph arm strength. A physical presence on the mound that works through a high ¾ slot. Arm action is clean with some armspeed. Fastball sat 72-74 mph and breaking ball had some sharpness to it at 67-68 mph.

3/19/16

6-foot-1, 170-pound prospect with mature frame for his age. Top hitter at the showcase. The lefty creates tons of energy through a leg kick load and strides. He syncs up his hand load during his forward movement to stay under control during his aggressive stride. Batspeed is electric for his age which he showed off by registering a top exit velocity of 87 mph. Very rhythmic, fluid movements. Power potential. Long, projectable body. Defensively, looks very natural around first base. Feet move well. Throws from low ¾ to ¾ slot with accuracy. Top velocity of 75 mph.Shows ball slight early prior to delivering from a high ¾ arm angle with a loose arm. 70-76 mph fastball with sink, 66 mph curve and deceptive 64 mph change up.
