Drew Gaskins: SS/RHP, (2023) Big Walnut, OH. 6-foot, 178-pound. Athletic in the box, Gaskins clocked an exit velocity of 91 mph. (69.54 mph bat speed average). (19.85 mph hand speed average). Began in a balanced athletic stance with a smooth load, then used a short toe tap stride. Bat speed was above average, used a short simple swing plane and good extension on his finish. Found multiple barrels with loud contact. Gap to gap approach. Solid while in the infield, made throws up to 80 mph; shows a natural fluid exchange, soft hands, and athletic rhythmic feet. Fields the ball out front, movements laterally were athletic. During the event, ran the 60-yard dash in 7.1.

5-foot-11, 175-pound physical frame. Fluid in the box, the left-handed hitter had a max exit velocity of 89 mph. Began in a wide stance with a small load, then used a short stride. Bat speed is average, has a rotational upward swing plane and level finish. Barreled up multiple balls with some loud contact. Pull side approach. Capable in the infield, recorded a position velocity of 82 mph; had a clean exchange, consistent footwork, and soft hands. Clocked a time of 7.13 in the 60-yard dash. Above average on the mound, using a very quick arm action he showed quick arm speed from a ¾ arm angle. Slow-tempo type pitcher and shows some effort. Has downhill shoulder with a strong balance point. Lands open with an athletic finish. Sat with his fastball at 78-80 mph; had command in the zone and running action. His 11/5 curveball (69-70) had arm side command and gradual action. Showed arm side control and fading action on his changeup (69-71).

Hit:Good looking athlete in the 2023 class. At the plate he has a simple, explosive stroke that stays inside the baseball well. Consistently spun the ball with natural backspin through a middle-back approach. Type of bat who can be utilized in multiple roles due to athleticism/burst.
Power:Impressive jump for class.
Offensive Projection:Multiple Roles.
Field:Quick feet, mechanically sound, can create angles and showed above average ball skills. Solid defender with the ability to make plays out of funnel.
Throw:Above average strength for class
Defensive Projection:Left side of infield.

7/14/20

5-foot-11, 160-pound athletic, projectable body frame. Infielder showcased well with athletic footwork and actions displaying good range. Fields with soft hands and has the ability to change arm slots when needed. Presently has enough arm strength to stay on the left side of the infield reaching a velocity of 80 mph. On the mound he throws with regular effort to his delivery landing just slightly more closed at foot strike finishing with his momentum carrying toward the plate. Has developing arm speed coming from an upper ¾ slot. Has good command of a two-pitch mix, fastball is mostly true through the zone ranging between 75-77 mph. Curveball is on an 11/5 plane with good depth and has sharpness to it at times between 63-64 mph. Left-handed hitter showed pop during his round of BP, making loud contact. Starts from an athletic stance with his weight slightly more shifted toward his back leg. Has a fluid load with his hands moving just past his back shoulder and hits the ball to all parts of the field, recording an exit velocity of 91 mph. Ran a 7.42 60-yard dash.

Body Type: 5-foot-10, 150-pound projectable frame.
Swing Mechanics: Left-handed hitter that starts in an athletic stance. Movements are simple yet efficient to load.
Hit: Path is uphill with a balanced offering of natural tools. Worked primarily pull side in BP. Showed feel for contact and the ability to create backspin.
Power: 76 mph exit velocity. Mostly line drive pop but flashed gap abilities.
Offensive Projection: TBD. How he fills out that athletic frame will likely determine future roles.
Run: 4.81 H-1st.
Field: Rangy defender with long limbs that can cover some ground out there. Attacks the ball off the bat in funnel, cutting down distance before he throws. Actions are more athletic on the move. Does a nice job of gaining ground before he lets rip across the infield.
Throw: Arm works with above average strength across the diamond. 74 mph.
Defensive Projection: Left side of the infield.

Body Type: 5-foot-10, 150-pound projectable frame
Mechanical/Delivery Notes: Works with good pace on the mound. RHythmic delivery that requires some effort. Compact arm action that comes through a high-¾ slot. Drop and drive type.
Fastball: 73-76 mph. Mostly true through the zone. Should see velo gains as he continues to mature physically.
Curveball: 57-58 mph. 11/5 big, gradual action. Tosses the pitch with feel.
Pitchability: On par for class.

Body Type: 5-foot-10, 150-pounds with tall, athletic build and plenty of room to fill

Hit: The LHH has good rhythm with his load and swing. He has a fluid swing with loose hands and his hands tend to lose momentum after contact. Showed the ability to hit to all sides of the field.

Power: Has gap to gap power, with some line drive capabilities, average pop

Offensive Projections: Top (75 exit velocity)

Run: 7.59 (60-yard dash)

Field: From SS, he has a loose arm, with average arm strength. He stays low and plays through the baseball. Has good transfers as he follows his throws with good weight transitions. Smooth defender with clean footwork and glovework

A lefty swinger with athletic action in the box. Launches from a balanced position before showing of a short, compact stroke through the zone. Slight downhill tendencies at times. Impressive feel for class, squaring up the baseball often in BP. Lien drive guy that flashed gap abilities.

Exit Velocity: 74
