The Butler commit is a very versatile prospect. A rangy infielder that has shortstop hands with a third baseman frame. Covers a ton of ground and keeps actions/ball skills on the move. Could see him at short or third base for the Bulldogs. Also has the athleticism and arm to play the outfield if need be. At the plate he uses athletic movements to loading sequence that create solid energy when synced. A line drive swing in general with gap capabilities. A candidate to grow into some power as strength catches up to bat speed.

2/19/17 6-foot-3, 175-pound prospect with lean, athletic frame. In the infield, he shows natural feel for the position. Efficient actions. Softness in his hands. Short, clean transfer. Throws from ¾ slot with top velocity of 78 mph across the infield. Would like to see him create angles towards first base and keep his footing moving on a more consistent basis. In the outfield, he starts in an athletic stance. Would like to see him approach the baseball more aggressively. Clean transfer with a small crow hop. Top velocity of 83 mph. Has the athleticism to play center field at the next level. Keeps improving each time we see him at the plate. Showed improved feel for his pre launch movements with more physicality through contact. Swing is efficient and any added strength would easily translate to added juice.
60 Yard Dash: 6.8 Position Velocity: 78 IF, 83 OF Exit Velocity: 84
2/12/17 A very projectable 6-foot-3, 175-pound frame. Gilbert is one of the top position players still on the board in the state. A very good athlete that can really run and play defense. Has the natural tools to stick at shortstop at the next level. His bat has been playing catch up with the rest of his tools over the past year and has really come along. Swing movements are fluid and efficient and he works on a level path. Ball comes off his bat well, showing gap to gap pop. Still has room to fill out his frame and is far from his ceiling at the plate.
6/7/16 6-foot-2, 175-pound athletic, projectable frame. A talented two-way prospect. At the plate he starts in a slightly open setup and uses a leg kick to initiate his loading sequence before his short stride forward. Hands are simple during his forward movement before taking a slightly downhill path to the ball. Is very functionally athletic with more strength and batspeed than his 84 mph exit velocity would indicate. A more efficient lower half would let that athleticism play in his swing. Ran an impressive 6.61 60-yard dash. Smooth actions in the infield with advanced glove skills. Made a few very impressive plays during the games. Lateral mobility is there and his actions stay on the move. Could have more efficient footwork prior to fielding the baseball. Showed off a loose arm with 84 mph arm strength across the infield. Has the arm and skill set to play anywhere on the infield. Very repeatable delivery on the mound. Gets some rotation at the top of his leg kick creating some deceptiveness. Lands a little closed at foot strike, which causes him to fall off towards first base at times. Back arm wraps slightly before throwing from a high ¾ slot. Fastball sat 79-83 mph. Curveball sat 73-74 mph with gradual 11/5 break. Shows a very good changeup at 69-74 mph with sink and fade to it.
2/13/16 6-foot-2, 165-pound prospect with tall, athletic frame. Throws from a ¾ slot with short arm action. Creates some deceptiveness to his delivery. Fastball sat at 78-80 mph with occasional arm side run. Good arm action to his changeup which sat in the low 70’s and showed sink down in the zone. Breaking ball shows slurvey type action at 71-72 mph. Tendency to get on the side of it. In the box he starts with a tall stance and uses a small leg kick to gather his weight. As he strides forward he keeps his hands in a strong position and gets the bat in and out of the zone quickly. Registered a top exit velocity of 75 mph. In the infield he took direct routes to the ball and did a solid job of creating momentum to first base with his feet after fielding. Showed softness to his hands with the ability to field the ball out in front of his body. With loose arm action from a ¾ slot he threw with 79 mph arm strength across the infield. Ran an impressive 6.87 60-yard dash. 7/28/15
6-foot-2, 157-pound projectable build. Right-handed hitter that stand tall with a minimal load and flat swing that stays thru the hitting zone. Registered top exit velocity of 75 mph with 4.44 speed home to first. In the infield he attacks the baseball and fields the ball into his body with good exchange. Shows good range for his age and 76 mph arm strength across the diamond. On the mound the righty has a slow tempo delivery and hides the ball well on his lift. Is closed at foot strike and throws from a 3/4 slot. He pounds the zone with his fastball at 74-79 mph. Shows good command of his breaking ball being able to back door it and throw it for a strike. It shows 11/5 break at 68-71 mph. His changeup has good arm speed at 71-73 mph with occasional arm side run.
