Sam Pece: OF/LHP, (2024) Walsh Jesuit, OH. 6-foot-1, 170-pound. Athletic at the plate, Pece had a max exit velocity of 90 mph. (62.81 mph bat speed average). (20.32 mph hand speed average). Starts in a balanced athletic stance with a smooth controlled load, then uses a small leg kick stride. Has above average bat speed, level swing plane and level finish. In his round he found multiple barrels. Line drive approach. Athletic while in the infield, made throws at velocities up to 82 mph; had athletic footwork, soft hands, and a clean fluid exchange. Athletic from the outfield, he displayed a position velocity of 80 mph; has a natural clean exchange, athletic feet, and twitchy hands. Fields the ball out front, movements laterally were athletic. Had consistent accuracy to the base with a long arm action. Clocked a time of 7.28 in the 60-yard dash. Athletic projectable on the mound, had a ¾ arm angle and a long arm action with good arm speed. Slow-tempo type pitcher who uses easy effort. Showed athletic balance point with in line shoulders. Lands soft with a clean finish. Produced a fastball that came in at 78-81 mph; had some action and command in the zone with straight movement. (Max spin 2056; Avg 1925). Threw a 1/7 curveball (63-65) with gradual action and low in the zone control. (Max spin 2017; Avg 1945). 


Sam Pece: OF/LHP, (2024) Walsh Jesuit, OH. 6-foot-1, 170-pound projectable frame. In the box, Pece's best exit velocity was 88 mph. Starts in a wide balanced stance with a smooth quick load, then uses a small leg kick. Bat speed is quick and has a level swing plane. Above average in the outfield, his best throw of the day was clocked at 80 mph; has soft hands, athletic quick feet, and a clean fluid exchange. Fields the ball out front, movements laterally were athletic. On the mound, used a loose arm action with a ¾ arm angle while showing good arm speed. Drop-and-drive type pitcher who shows easy effort. Has a low balance point. Produced a fastball that came in at 79-81 mph; shows arm side command and running action. Has gradual action on his 1/7 curveball (61-64). Shows arm side control and fading action on his changeup (73-75). 


Hit: Switch hitter. From the right side he has a very smooth, athletic load that comes together well. Obvious burst through the zone with feel for contact. Very simil;ar stroke from the left side, maintaining natural tools. Looks to be a true switch. Talented dude with a bright future.
Power: Potential for at least occasional power.
Offensive Projection: Run producer.
Max BP Exit Velocity: R90mph/L86mph
Max BP Distance: R290ft/L285ft
Field: Good athlete with above average ball skills. Plays under control throughout sequence.
Throw: Loose, whippy arm through a high-3/4 slot.
Defensive Projection: Multiple spots

Scouting Notes: Obvious athleticism on the mound with a fast, loose arm. Fastball sat in the mid 70s but won't be there for long as much like the other arms from the Southern squad the velo ceiling is high. Complements the heater with a big breaker with slurvish action.
Fastball: 75-77mph.
Fastball Spin Rate: 1996-2115.
Curveball: 60-62mph. 
Curveball Spin Rate: 1778-1827.


Swing Mechanics: Switch hitter. From the right side he uses an athletic loading sequence, incorporation a bat tip during leg kick timing trigger. From the left side he has similar movements that flow a bit more naturally.
Hit: From the right he shows an aggressive stroke. All the tools are there. Path causes some inconsistencies in ball flight. Generated most true spin to the middle of the field. From the left he squared the ball up frequently with natural lift to the baseball. Natural tools are the same from both sides. Going to be a good one down the road.
Power: Gap abilities with much more to come.
Offensive Projection: Run Producer.
Field: Looks the part in the outfield. Moves well and has feel out there. Good athlete with well above average ball skills.
Throw: Arm works well with already present strength and much more to come.


Mechanical/Delivery Notes: High leg kick with an out and around lead leg and a 3/4 arm action that  has some whip to it.

Fastball: 66-70mph. Slight arm side drop with life to it. Needs to be in the zone more consistently.

Curveball: 54-57mph. Thrown on a 1/7 plane with more depth over action. Needs to be more consistent in the zone.


Pitchability: Needs to be more consistent in the zone. 


5-foot-10, 140-pound switch hitter is a natural righty. The right-handed hitter starts with a slightly-open stance utilizing a leg-hang to initiate his swing. Stayed on the backside well with feel for the barrel recording an 80 mph bat-exit velocity. The lefty mirrors the right side of the plate with a slightly longer swing. Displayed adequate rhythm with ability to barrel balls to the middle of the field. Demonstrated solid actions in the outfield with feet that played through the ball registering a 70 mph arm-strength from his position. Ran a 4.45 home-to-first time. The southpaw shows his number during a repeatable high 3/4 delivery. Commanded a 66-68 mph fastball with a long takeaway. Featured a 56-58 mph curveball with 1/7 rotation. Flashed a 62-63 mph changeup thrown with good reach helping him get small, natural cut.
