2/9/20 Pitching
Delivery Notes: 6-foot, 177-pound projectable southpaw. Up tempo pace with some effort. Arm occasionally drags at times but can be easily cleaned up. Back leg drive is very solid. Ball comes out well out of a ¾ arm slot.
Fastball:  Natural glove side movement. Able to spot up in and out. Strike thrower. High spin rate guy that throws a heavy ball.
Fastball Spin Rate: 2000-2110.
Curveball: 1/7 shape with gradual break. More depth than side to side action. Above average pitch.
Curveball Spin Rate: 1985-2010.
Changeup: Shows a developing changeup mix. Enough difference to keep guys consistently off balance.

Body Type: 6-foot, 177-pound athletic frame.
Mechanical/Delivery Notes: Quick delivery. Slightly late arm action. Uses lower half well. Lands slightly closed off. Minor adjustments but overall a good delivery.
Fastball: 83-86mph. Slight glove side run that can be adjusted by grip. Potential to locate on both corners of the plate.
Curveball:  Spins two different breaking balls. Slider has true shape with late bit at 69-72mph 1/7 movement curveball. Both offerings in the zone.
Pitchability: Throws all three offerings in the zone with ability to locate on the corners.

6-foot, 170-pound. Left-handed pitching prospect with an average build. Uses a high lift and quick tempo delivery with a tall and fall type lower half. Fastball works out of a high three-quarter slot at 77 to 80 mph with slight cutting action. Offers a big breaking 11 to 5 curveball that flashes sharpness 63 to 68 mph.

One of the top southpaw’s we’ve come across in the state’s 2020 class. Ulrich will consistently fill up the zone with three quality offerings. Arm works well, showing both looseness and whip through a high-¾ slot. Fastball was 79-82 mph (we saw him up to 84 last weekend) and he will work to both sides of the plate. Tosses both the changeup and the breaking ball with confidence and feel.

Long limbed prospect with room to add strength. Rolls through wind up getting to a chest-high leg lift prior to load. Lower half is efficient and generates energy. Arm is longer with a slight hitch in the back. Works through a high-¾ slot with slight arm side action on his 80-84 mph fastball. Spins both a breaking ball and a slider, doing a nice job of creating different planes a hitter has to deal with. Slider cuts across the zone at 73-75 mph. Breaking ball was sharp but will need to be in the zone more often with the pitch.

On the mound the southpaw has an uptempo, repeatable delivery. Uses a high leg lift prior to his drop and drive load. Arm works well through a high-¾ slot. Arm speed is well above average for his class. Consistently filled up the zone with his fastball/breaking ball combination. Worked both sides of the plate with his fastball, that showed slight run and cut at times. Breaking ball was a well above average offering. Throws the pitch firm, giving it good depth on a near 12/6 plane. Used the offering to put hitters away, producing consistent swings and misses. Also flashed a changeup a few times. Maintains fastball arm speed with the pitch that showed some fade to it. Really impressed with his pitchability. Solid outing.

FB: 77-79
CB: 62-65
CH: 69-70

On the mound the southpaw has a quicker tempo to a delivery he is able to repeat. Creates good momentum to home plate with his lower half. Arm works through a high-¾ slot with above average arm speed. Fastball comes out of his hand well, with cut to it at times. Topped at 76 mph while sitting 73-75 mph. His secondary stuff is far advanced for his age with excellent feel for both his curveball and changeup. His changeup has a fastball look to it out of his hand before showing late sink at 67-71 mph. Also flashed a sharp breaking ball at 58-60 mph with a 1/7 shape.

5-foot-8, 135-pound thin, projectable body frame. Left-handed hitter who has a quiet swing. Hits from a balance stance, using a fluid load with his hands moving to his back shoulder. Swings with a level bat path through the zone, finishing with a one-handed follow through. Reached a top exit velocity of 73 mph and ran a 7.74 60-yard dash. From the outfield, he shows average footwork. Could improve by adding a crow-hop. Throws with a high ¾ slot with 71 mph arm strength. On the mound he throws with regular effort and shows good direction to the plate. Three pitch mix with the fastball sitting 67-71 mph. Curveball sat 57-60 mph with gradual break. Changeup sat 63-64 mph.
