A 5-foot-11, 190-pound thick, athletic build. Works from an average tempo, stiff delivery. Arm action is short in the back, stiff on the way through, high-3/4 slot. Fastball shows some downhill tilt and flashes run, 74-76 mph. Changeup thrown for strikes, 70 mph. Allowed two walks and a hit to go along with a strikeout in his inning. Offensively, left-handed hitter, all fields, flat approach, some bat speed. Upright, open, balanced stance, coil load, quick hands, rotational finish, 85 mph exit velo. Runs a 7.06 60 and gets out of the box well. Defensively, athletic, aggressive actions, over the top slot, 73 mph from the outfield. In-game Gaines reached base tree times on two walks and an error by the first baseman, also had two strikeouts.

A 5-foot-11, 195-pound thick, muscular, athletic build. Works from a slightly up-tempo, delivery with some stiffness. Arm action is short in the back, stiff,  but quick on the way through, high-3/4 slot. Fastball shows some downhill tilt and flashes run, 78-80 mph. Changeup thrown for strikes with sink and fade, 74-75 mph. Curveballs shows consistent rolling 1/7 shape, also for strikes, 70-71 mph.  Offensively, a left-handed hitter, line drive, opposite field approach. Hits from an open, relaxed, and upright stance. Coils his front side for the load, shows quick strong hands, some stiffness, some length.Tied up at times on the inside pitch. Produces and exit velo of 85 mph. Runs a 7.06 laser-timed 60. Defensively, aggressive to the ball, active feet, violent throwing motion, high-3/4 slot, 80 mph to the dish.
