4/18/16 6-foot-1, 200-pound right-handed hitter went 1-for-3 with a sharp single to left field, a swinging strike out and a roll over ground ball to short. Sophomore flashed present power during BP driving balls to and over the wall. Ran a 4.44 home-to-1B on ground out.
2/14/16 Developed 6-foot-1, 195-pound frame. Explodes off the rubber with a quick arm out of an up-tempo delivery that incorporates an overhead rocker. Struggled to find a consistent release point, as he was spinning off hard with significant head whack that caused his hat to fall off routinely. Even though the delivery is raw and will require some clean-up, there's no ignoring his fastball that checked in at 87-89. A low-70s curveball tended to back up on him due to his release point issues, although the best pitch he threw the entire bullpen was a solid 11/5 CB out of the stretch when he stayed more under control and on-line to the plate. Will need to maintain better arm speed on his change-up.
2/15/15 Schwartz's 6-foot-1, 185-pound frame belies his youth. At the plate, the right-handed hitter employs a lift-and-replace stride and flashes quality bat speed (88-mph exit velo), especially for his age. While he would benefit defensively from fielding the ball out away from his body, he showed good feet and an 82-mph arm across the diamond. Schwartz also ran a 6.97 60-yard dash.
