2/06/21

Physical: The compact, physical 5-foot-9, 170-pound middle infielder was extremely athletic in all phases. 7.30 runner in the 60-yard dash.

Offensively: RHH - Controlled and balanced, slightly open stance with the hands starting out in front of the shoulder as the barrel points straight up and down. Utilized a move backwards in the hands and a barrel tip at the top of the load coupled with a leg-lift in order to initiate the hands through an explosive, slightly uphill path and into the hitting zone. Generated lots to like offensively: a 33% line drive rate played admirably, as did a 67% hard hit rate (batted balls over 90 mph). When the hands and levers got towards the front of the plate, present pop was evident to all fields (323 foot maximum batted ball distance). A 94 mph peak bat-exit velocity per Trackman Baseball and 23.5 mph hand speed both pointed to the ability to turn around velocity at the plate. With continued work on smoothing out the timing phase, Steinbugl will catapult himself into a very dangerous hitter in the class.

Defensively: The primary middle infielder had a standout round; played downhill and should off impressive, rangy actions in either direction. The pace was there as well getting rid of it in a hurry from a quick, high ¾ release (81 mph arm strength). Played with some of the lower posture of the day and could change direction quickly; handled the play on the run with ease.

6/15/20

Physical: 5-foot-8, 165 pounds; compact, athletic build. 7.4 runner in the 60.
Offensively: RHH. Balanced, slightly open stance ; small bat waggle along with a medium stride. average effort with efficient, flat bat path to the point of contact, finishing on an uphill plane; 12 degree bat angle into the zone via Blast Motion. Steinbugl is able to produce 11.4 G’s of force with an on-plane efficiency of 80%.  Fly balls to the pull side; average Trackman exit velocity of 78 MPH; peak exit velo was 91 MPH.
Defensively: Starts low to the ground with his glove foot forward; attacks the ball low to the ground with controlled, long strides. Smooth hands, clean transfer; long arm swing with a 3/4 arm slot. INF - 85 MPH.

2/22/20

Showcased feel for a long and lean 5-foot-8, 165-pound frame with room to fill out as he matures. The right-handed hitter begins with a balanced, athletic setup with slight hand wiggle utilizing a leg-hang to initiate his swing. Generated a slightly uphill barrel path while staying in the zone for an extended period of time. Displayed ability to use all fields with advanced barrel control during batting practice. Recorded one of the top rounds of the day while registering an 89 mph bat-exit velocity. Ran a 7.19 60-yard dash. The primary middle infielder showed off quality footwork creating advantageous routes to ball with a quick first step. Soft hands and a low center of gravity allowed for range to both sides and smooth transfers yielded accurate 80 mph arm-strength across the diamond out of a high ¾ arm-slot.
