6/15/20

Physical: 6-foot-0, 200 pounds; strong, athletic build. 7.68 runner in the 60.
Offensively: RHH. Starts with feet even and a wide balanced base; hands start with some waggle in front of shoulder; initiates with a lift and replace stride while hands take a short load back. strong effort with balanced lower half while staying behind the ball with slight uphill path with some extension through the zone; 17 degree bat angle into the zone via Blast Motion. Horton is able to produce 9.6 G’s of force with an on-plane efficiency of 57%.  Consistent hard contact with gap to gap pop; average Trackman exit velocity of 85.18 MPH; peak exit velo was 88 MPH.
Defensively: Walks into ready position; athletic actions playing through the ball routinely. soft glove with a clean transfer; short arm action with ability to vary release with the play.  INF - 74 MPH.

2/23/20

Displayed a physically advanced 6-foot, 200-pound frame with present strength in his actions. The right-handed hitter begins with a balanced, even stance utilizing a leg-hang to initiate his swing. Generated an easy, fluid stroke through a slightly uphill path creating repeatable pull-side lift during batting practice. Showcased feel for the barrel while spraying hard line drives to both gaps. Hit into a stiff front side with an easiness in his movements creating an 84 mph bat-exit velocity during batting practice. Ran a 7.23 60-yard dash. The primary third baseman showed off soft hands that played well out in front and adequate footwork in a low center of gravity setup. Feet lacked aggression through the ball but arrived on time yielding accurate 74 mph arm-strength across the diamond. The right-handed pitchers sat 78-79 out of  a repeatable, high ¾ arm-slot with downhill action. Mixed in a 64-66 mph curveball with 11/5 shape featuring backdoor action. Countered with a 70-71 mph changeup thrown with advanced sell and showing occasional arm-side fade.

2/16/19 - 6-foot, 185-pound right-handed hitter starts from a square stance and initiates his swing with a lift-and-replace stride. Showcased balance and rhythm to his swing with some present gap power. Registered an 87 mph bat exit velocity and ran a 7.13 60-yard dash. Displayed active feet and accurate 77 mph arm strength across the diamond. Sat 79-81 from a high 3/4 arm slot on the mound. Also showed a two-seam fastball at 75-76, a curveball with 11/5 rotation at 64-66 and a changeup with sollid arm speed at 72-73.

1/6/18 - Defensively, hands are adequate for age feet work well to baseball. There is tendency to work top down and let ball get deep. Throwing motion is somewhat long and benefit would be gained from being more aggressive in attacking and playing through the ball.

Offensively, there is substantial feel for the barrel and adequate weight shift. Hands work well to baseball. Hip turn is somewhat passive and early hand leak reduces separation. Back elbow leak in front of hands contributes to bat drag. An uphill swing pah is contributed to by landing on a stiffer front side and early front knee lock. An 81 mph bat exit velocity was recorded.

On the mound, working out of a mid 3/4 arm slot there is solid balance and rhythm to delivery. Arm action is loose and easy. Delivery is repeatable. FB sits 69-70 mph with little movement. CB at 61-63 had 11-5 shape with rolling action. CH at 65-66 mph was best pitch on this day thrown with good sell and demonstrating consistent arm side fade/sink.
