Physical: Long and lean 6-foot-4, 185-pound frame with projectability and athleticism throughout. St. Bonaventure commit.
Pitching: LHP - Quick pace, deliberate side rocker step into a high leg lift above the waist, lands relatively high while slightly falling off to the third base side of the rubber, quick high ¾ slot with a moderate arm circle, the FB appeared from 82-84 mph with natural arm side run (up to 2357 max spin per Trackman Baseball). Mixed in a tight 69-71 mph SL with sharp horizontal plane as the strikeout offering.
6/15/20
Physical: 6-foot-3, 180 pounds; long, lanky frame, room to fill out. Pitching: Sets up on the third base side of the rubber, gets into an uptempo windup coming set at the chest and finishing slightly on the third base side of the mound. Short take back with a 3/4 arm slot. FB: T 83 MPH, 79-83 MPH. Shows arm side action, fades when thrown down. CB: 68-71 MPH. Sharp,1-7 shape.
6/11/19
6-foot-3, 180-pound lefty was the most interesting pitching prospect of the event. Watts sat 81-83 with some cut to his fastball out of a 3/4 arm slot for three solid innings. Repeats up tempo delivery well out of a side rocker step with balance throughout. Also showcased a curveball with short, tight 1/7 break at 69-71. Commanded both sides of the plate and worked ahead consistently. Did not allow a hit or run over three innings while striking out five. Long, projectable frame should see velocity spikes over the next several years.
