2/06/21

Physical: Long and projectable 6-foot-3, 205-pound frame. 7.77 runner in the 60-yard dash.

Offensively: RHH - Crouched, even stance with the hands starting flat over the shoulder with rhythm in the setup. Utilized a “U” shaped load back to the shoulder coupled with a lift and replace stride in order to initiate the barrel through a flat path and into the hitting zone. Featured a short swing with a 40% line drive rate playing mostly through the middle of the field, though he did record a 60% groundball rate as well. The round was standout otherwise generating a near 300 foot batted ball distance and bat speeds up to 73 mph, both which play with good contact points. A 91 mph bat-exit velocity packs a punch when getting long levers out towards the front of the plate, a science for his success moving forward.

Defensively: The primary backstop demonstrated adequate receiving abilities from a low one knee setup showing off good pocket awareness and a soft glove hand at the catch point. Pop times ranged from 2.25-2.36 with good depth in the lower half drive leg allowing for push towards the target. Accurate 71 mph throws on the bag from a short and quick, high ¾ slot. Beat the ball to the spot when blocking with the glove hand first, shielding balls back over the plate for recovery ability … The first baseman showcased increased feel around the bag with a low center of gravity and glove hand that was soft, but attacking. Continuously kept the feet moving and could pick it in the dirt if need be while a 72 mph arm strength was accurate across the diamond.
