A fastball with hop has a flat approach angle and visually jumps through the zone. When thrown up in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher swing and miss average. Hop+ of 100 is MLB average.
Fastball
Sink+
A fastball with sink has low backspin and drops through the strike zone. When thrown down in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher ground ball percentage and lower launch angle. Sink+ of 100 is MLB average.
Fastball
Rise+
A fastball with rise has a high percentage of backspin. When thrown up in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher fly ball percentage. Rise+ of 100 is MLB average
Curveball
Hammer+
A hammer breaking ball drops vertically with velocity through the zone, or 12-to-6 movement. Hammer+ of 100 is MLB average.
Curveball
Sweep+
A sweeping breaking ball moves horizontally with velocity through the zone. Sweep+ of 100 is MLB average.
The highest Edge Score within the given year. Edge Score is a comprehensive score that takes the core-six visual skills into account, providing an assessment of an athlete’s overall visual ability.
Physical: Strong, durable 6-foot-2, 220lb frame with power in all phases. 7.87 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: LHH - Upright, loose stance with an imposing presence flashing slight rhythm by the ear. Utilized a toe tap stride getting to a stretched load position at foot strike and unleashing through a flat path into impact. Got extended well from a wide attack yielding tons of natural backspin through the middle of the field. Generated loud contact to pull and handled the inner half during batting practice. Recorded a peak bat-exit velocity of 96 mph per Trackman Baseball with an eye-popping 372 foot max batted ball distance on a home-run to RCF. Easy middle of the order projection moving forward.
Defensively: The primary first baseman featured adequate feel around the bag from a choppy approach, got to a solid position at the fielding window with the hands working semi-soft out in front, funneling into the chest with a consistent exchange. Whippy, accurate ¾ slot to the plate and used inside turns on double play footwork (79 mph arm).
3/06/21
Physical: 6’2 220lb RHP/C ran a 7.64 laser timed 60 yard dash. Strong frame has natural strength and power with room to add steep and quickness to his game.
Offensively: Starts with a wide base, his front foot slightly open, and his hands high above his head. He uses a consistent toe tap to begin his timing mechanism and finds himself in a power position when it comes time to fire the barrel into the hitting zone. The barrel works down to contact and back upward on the follow through.
Defensively: Receives from a relaxed traditional set up but bounces to a higher stance when making throws. He uses a short foot replacement when aligning himself to the target base. His arm works short to release as his body powers the throw.
Pitching: He works with a simple windup as he generates his power through the separation he creates between his upper and lower half. His strong lower half drives effectively as his arm action stays short and from a high ¾ arm slot.
2/06/21
Physical: Large and extremely physical 6-foot-2, 220-pound frame with well proportioned strength throughout. 8.05 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: LHH - High elbowed setup from a balanced, slightly open stance as the barrel rested idle on the shoulder/backside. Utilized a toe-tap with above-average stretch in the load mechanism allowing for plenty of burst/loft through a quick, slightly uphill path in the hitting zone. Stayed on the backside well while efficiently delivering bat head speed (80 mph max) to the front of the plate in order to generate easy pull-side juice when leveraged (365 foot top batted ball distance). A 58.3% hard hit rate demonstrates the consistency offensively and high rotational acceleration numbers (25.2 G’s) point to a high power ceiling. Recorded a standout 98 mph bat-exit velocity and should approach triple digits soon.
Defensively: The third baseman featured a medium posture on the approach while using active feet to arrive on time at the fielding window. Sneaky feel for his body moving and ranging to the glove hand side with ability to finish off the throw with accuracy; 85 mph arm strength. Handled the play on the run as well, though he looks to be a shoe-in to play first base at the next level.
Pitching: RHP - Started from the middle of the rubber; deliberate side rocker into a slow leg lift at belt height, got down the mound using good backside leg drive, released out of a high ¾ slot. FB ranged from 83-85 mph with a 38% zone rate, mixed in a tight 68-70 mph CB with up to -14.4 inches of IVB/depth at the plate. Countered with a developing 75-77 mph CH that showed decent arm side fade on occasion.
6/12/19
Body type: 6-foot, 200-pound big and physical frame.
Swing mechanics: Bat tip with toe tap that is simple and smooth that gets everything in sync.
Hit: Produces backspin to all fields with a level bat path. Good feel in the box.
Power: Pop gap to gap.
Offensive projection: Middle of the lineup guy.
Field: Behind the dish, he features an open stance with a smooth and quick transfer, and quick feet.
Throw: Developing arm action with loose action.
Defensive Projection: UTL.
