6/24/15 6-foot, 200-pound frame. Last time we saw him, we described his delivery as “up tempo.” That may not have done it justice. In “fast forward” or, perhaps even “time lapse,” would be more appropriate. Pitched out of an over-the-top slot. Fastball sat 80-82 with some downhill plane. Occasionally drops down sidearm with fastball at 75. Also, flipped in a curveball at 68-69 with 11/5 action.
6/24/15 6-foot-2, 200-pound right-handed hitter. Started from a square stance, incorporating a vertically-oriented, waist-high leg kick to slightly closed. Flashed some bat speed and would benefit from more fully incorporating his backside into his swing. Ran a 7.32 60-yard dash and a 4.62 in-game home-to-1B time. Showcased 87-mph exit velocity and 76-mph arm strength (ran FB up to 82 in game). Works hard defensively. While working fast is a benefit to him on the mound, would like to see him slow down a bit and smooth things out on defense.
6/17/15 Medium frame (6-foot, 200-pounds). Pitched out of a high three-quarter slot from an up-tempo, attacking delivery with some funk and recoil on finish. Improving fastball sat 79-81 and he occasionally dropped sidearm with it. Secondary offerings, including a curveball at 64-66 and change-up at 71-72, are also making progress.
6/17/15 6-foot, 200-pound right-handed hitter. Hit from a square stance and strode to a wide base. Flashed some bat speed and opposite field pop, while coming out of the zone early at times. Showcased 84-mph exit velocity and 78-mph arm strength during workout (ran FB up to 81 in game). Would benefit from improved footwork and agility defensively.
2/15/15 Souchuck is a physical 6-foot, 200-pound righty that sat 77-78 from and over the top arm slot with some hip coil to his delivery. The sophomore commanded his 74 mph changeup thrown at near fastball arm speed and a 63 mph curveball that has the potential to get a lot of outs. Souchuck gets 12/6 rotation out of his arm slot leading to hard down action at the plate. If he can develop the ability to throw the pitch with greater velocity he will have a solid second pitch to go along with a fastball that should see velocity spikes as well.
2/14/15 Souchuck is a 6-foot, 200-pound right-handed hitter that starts from a square stance. He utilizes a leg lift stride and a strong lower half to produce some pop in his bat with an exit velocity of 87 mph. The sophomore has a tendency to not get fully rotated preventing him from getting to full extension, but produces significant barrel whip and has a feel for the barrel. Souchuck ran a 7.38 60-yard dash and showcased average arm strength (76 mph) across the diamond from third base. Although a primary pitcher, his offensive power potential will likely draw some interest moving forward.
5/9/14 Souchuck is a big-bodied right-handed hitter. Double taps stride. Barreled up two pitches up in the zone. Based on arm action and arm strength at 1B in pre-game, would like to see on mound as well.
