Notes

Comments

6/21/22

Physical: Advanced 6-foot-3, 188lb build with thick lower half. 8.77 runner in the 60-yard dash.

Offensively: LHH. Taller, rhythmic stance that uses an inward-facing front-side to set direction. Utilized a leg-kick stride and hand-pump to initiate the swing through an uphill path with plenty of torque into the hitting zone. Violent intent to all quadrants, which produced a loud 87 mph exit velocity, up to 319 feet on a dead pull-side approach. XBH skill set down the road.

Defensively: The primary first baseman showcased average range and a narrow base that set up on time with chopped footwork from an even stature. Reached back for a 70 mph arm-strength across the dirt with more in the tank.

Pitching: RHP. Starts wide off the middle of the mound; some drop-and-drive, getting the shoulders involved through a H ¾ slot. Worked over a stiff front-side at 71-74 mph, adding a small, lateral breaking ball in the upper-60’s. Later mixed a 63-65 mph straight-CH.

7/28/21

Physical: Durable, strong 6-foot-4, 212lb frame with thick proportions. 9.49 runner in the 60-yard dash.

Offensively: LHH - Upright, heavy-tempoed stance at a narrow, opened start to begin; utilized a leg kick stride to above the waist, initiating the swing through a slightly uphill, sudden path into the zone. Pumped the hands before releasing the barrel, promoting loft in the approach en route to a 44% fly ball rate (via Trackman). Recorded a T87 mph bat-exit velocity with a lot of upper half involvement, as he drove the ball to the pull-side, RCF gap with consistency towards a stiff front-side (266 foot batted ball).

Defensively: Began with higher posture in the approach and chopped the feet before presenting the glove hand early, out in front. Bent at the waist and shuffled right-left, right-left to the target before a ¾ release (68 mph arm).

Pitching: RHP - Set up from the middle of the rubber using a wide side rocker step into a balanced stack just above waist height. Attacked the zone using some drop-drive to get over the front-side at release (OTT slot, repeated). The FB landed from 67-69 mph with short arm-side run, mixing a sweeping upper-50’s curveball (slider-like movement).

6/22/21

Physical: 6-foot-1, 208 pounds; Full, proportional build. 9.87 runner in the 60.

Offensively: LHH. Open setup, with feet shoulder width apart; has a pre-pitch bat waggle. Extended take back of the hands with an exaggerated leg kick for timing. Drifts into contact while showing a strong lower half. Showed a slight lift to the ball with a one-handed finish.  More line drives than flyballs and groundballs with a peak exit velocity of 81 MPH via Trackman.

Defensively: Starts with an upright /tall setup; static during pre-pitch while choppy. Hands are out in front while staying low during transfer. Moderate arm circle  from a standard 3/4 arm slot.   INF - 65 MPH.

Pitching: Joos uses a center rubber setup working primarily from the stretch. Belt high leg drive with a full coil away from the plate. Has a moderate stride while landing slightly open. Short take back while stabbing downward, while working through a standard 3/4 slot. Spins off 1B side with finish. FB: Peak velo of 68 MPH, while sitting 64-67 MPH; plays up in the zone. CB: 58-59 MPH; 11-5 shape.
