6/17/19

6-foot-1, 180-pounds still very young body. Lengthy strides produced 7.31 60-yard time. Produced a 95 mph exit velocity off of the tee, showing a lot of potential power to transfer at the plate. Lets ball get deep before reception at 1B, clean transfer actions, and makes strong throws across the field at 82 mph. Easy actions on the mound, easy arm swing, late hand speed with good extension for added life and deception. Fastball worked at 84-85 mph with arm side run, showed 1/7 shape curveball at 69-75 mph, tighter spinning 2/8 shape slider at 74 mph, and varied the changeup from 77-82.

1.05.19
Carson has a long-limbed frame at 6-foot-1, 180-pounds. Previously we have seen Carson as a left-handed arm, and the skill set on the mound is one that will likely be his ticket at the next level. However, his round of BP suggests that at least for now, the right-handed hitter could be considered a two-way guy. Naturally creates separation as he triggers his hands down and back using a low leg kick before rotating his hips and dropping the barrel in the zone to get on plane. Whippy bat head through the zone with a strong top hand that allows him to finish the head with some authority and a top exit velocity of 93 mph. The contact was crisp and firm as the ball jumped off his bat from gap to gap. At first base, his hands play soft on picks and short hops around the bag. Starts the pivot with accuracy and an easy arm swing. On the mound, the left-hander works from a high-¾ slot with a clean arm swing and tilted shoulders. His fastball sat at 80-82 mph. Shows good feel for his changeup at 77-79 mph even though the pitch is close to fastball speed. His slider plays with 1/7 shape and good rotation at 69-72 mph. With his frame and feel for off speed pitches, look for Carson to generate a good bit of interest this spring.

11.04.18
Carson has a high-waisted, long-limbed pitcher’s frame at 6-foot-1, 175-pounds. The left-hander provides a different look with some deception in his delivery and a sharp curveball that has late break and tight spin. His fastball was 82-84, and he can throw his changeup with hand speed and arm side fade at 78. But the curveball is what stood out on Sunday. He stays on top of the ball so it has very little hump out of the hand and comes out of the same tunnel. Threw several to right-handed hitters that darted down and in with late break at 73-74. Gauging his frame, deception and hand speed on off speed pitches, he is going to get even better.

10.20.18
Carson has a long-limbed, projectable pitcher’s frame at 6-foot-1, 175-pounds was 81-83 from a high-¾ slot with a clean arm swing and relative ease with a long stride and tilted shoulders down the mound, topping out at 84 mph. Curveball was 69-70 the first three times he threw it, but flashed a 75 from the stretch. Changeup is thrown close to fastball range at 77-82.
