1.19.19
The Arkansas commit stands 6-foot-3, 225-pounds, with a strong durable frame and has the look of an impact corner bat at the collegiate level. The left-handed hitter took a polished round of BP, showing easy rhythm and a low effort hack with juice in the barrel. Launched several balls out of the yard to the pull side and drove the ball deep to the gaps. On the infield, he shows soft hands, the ability to make the one handed play, and throws from a ¾ slot with a clean arm swing.

01.13.18
Arkansas commit. Phillips has a long-limbed, strong frame at 6-foot-2, 205-pounds. The left-handed hitter generates significant bat speed and leverage. He starts from a tall, slightly open stance with good flex in his lower half. Smooth load back before he strides forward with a low-hanging leg lift, and his hands trigger down and back. Aggressive hack, loose hands, quick bat through the zone on an uphill path. Uses the whole field, high-loose finish with an exit velocity of 90 mph and more to come in the future. On the infield, Phillips plays through the ball with fundamental footwork and soft hands out front. Accurate arm across the infield with a top velocity of 78 mph.

11.04.17 While most spectators were halfway into their morning coffee, 2021 3B/RHP Josh Phillips (Bridgeland HS) gave everyone a shot of life when he hammered a homerun over the right field wall. Phillips is a physical left-handed hitter at 6-foot-2, 205-pounds. He has swagger and presence in the box, and showed outstanding bat speed. He walked in his second at bat, then smoked a single to right field in his third at bat. A two-way player and right-handed pitcher, Phillips’ fastball was 81-83 mph, with a 72 mph curveball.

07.25.17 - Phillips is only a rising freshman but has an imposing 6-foot-2, 205-pound, strong frame. He earned an invite to the Underclass Games after a stellar performance at the Houston Area Open. The left-handed hitter has pop in his bat with natural lift and aggression as he registered an exit velo of 84 mph. He starts from an athletic, slightly open stance with positive downward tilt in his shoulders. Smooth load with rhythm as he triggers his hands back with a leg-kick and long stride. Barrel gets on plane early as he drops the head in the zone with a strong top hand punch and high finish through contact. Solid power from the middle-to-pull side. Attacks the inside of the ball with good barrel awareness. Very projectable left-handed bat. On the infield, Phillips has average hands and rhythm through the catch, and average feet for his class and frame. Long exchange into a high-¾ slot at 79 mph across the diamond.

07.18.17 - Phillips is only a rising freshman but has an imposing 6-foot-2, 205-pound, strong frame. The left-handed hitter has pop in his bat with natural lift as he registered an exit velo of 86 mph. He starts from an athletic, slightly open stance with positive downward tilt in his shoulders. Smooth load with rhythm as he triggers his hands back with a leg-kick. Barrel gets on plane early as he drops the head in the zone with a strong top hand punch and high finish through contact. Solid power from the middle-to-pull side. Attacks the inside of the ball with good barrel awareness. Very projectable left-handed bat. On the infield, Phillips has average hands and feet for his class. Arm works well from a long, high-¾ slot at 79 mph across the diamond.
