6.19.17: Toma has missed most of the spring on the mound with an injury, saw him in his third appearance back coming out of the bullpen. Mechanics and arm action looked like they normally do, quick arm action, normal effort, high three-quarters arm slot. Velocity is not all of the way back yet, fastball was 83-86. Curveball was 70-73 with good armspeed and its usual late, hard, sharp break.

9.29.16 - Duke commit. Lanky frame with projection and more in tank. Controlled delivery with slight pause after rocker. Sat 84-86 on the day with a 75-76 breaking ball with late action and sharpness with fastball arm speed. Showed change at 78 mph and fastball arm speed. Good job repeating delivery.

10.31.15 - Lanky frame with room to add strength at 5-foot-11, 150-pounds. Controlled delivery with nice pace. Gets hips loaded into lift with excellent backside drive through release and legs. Longer sound arm action with fast arm speed through finish. Throws from a high /34 arm slot with square finish and slight roll to first base side becasue of his great back leg drive. Fastball has slight run on the pitch up to 86 mph. Breaking ball is a plus pitch, sharp action with fastball arm speed. Knee buckler. Change up has nice fade on the pitch with fastball arm speed.
6.4.16 - Toma Shigaki-Than was 85-88 in his outing working efficiently on the mound coupled with his hard 78 mph breaking ball.
4.2.16:  Shigaki-Than’s fastball sat 83-86 and touched 87. His changeup had fading action at 77. His breaking ball had its usual sharp 12/6 action at 76.

3.7.16:  Shigaki-Than is an athletic right hander that throws from a high three-quarter arm slot with a long, loose, lightning quick arm that allows him to generate velocity with some effort. He has a drop and drive delivery and his shoulders are closed and uphill as he strides out to a square landing before recoiling as he finishes. Shigaki-Than’s fastball sat 84-85 with some plane and a bit of late run. His best pitch is easily his sharp, power, 12/6 breaking curveball that ran 74-77 and is thrown with full armspeed.
1.18.16: Toma is already in mid-season form as his fastball was 84-86 with good action. His arm action was quick and free. He showed command of both of his secondary pitches, an outstanding sharp 12/6 curveball and a sinking change-up that is thrown with good armspeed.
11.1.15: Shigaki-Than has a projectable, athletic frame and throws from a high three-quarters arm slot with a smooth delivery. His arm action is long and loose and his lightning quick arm generates easy velocity. His shoulders are uphill and closed and strides out on line to a square landing before falling off as he finishes. Shigaki-Than’s fastball had late run to it and sat 84-85, touching 86. His curveball was outstanding, with late, sharp 12/6 break and good armspeed, running 75-78. His changeup had fastball armspeed and fading action and ran 77. He showed good command of all three pitches.
