+ INF Owen McLellan (Shorewood, 2026) is a toolsy uncommitted infielder in the state’s junior class. The athletic 5-foot-10, 163 pound infielder took a quality round, repeatedly finding the barrel and driving the ball through the middle of the field. The impact ticked up over the offseason reaching 92.3 mph max exit velocity. Defensively, McLellan has a chance to stick on the left-side at the next level, with speed that shows up on the field, easily covering ground, with enough arm strength up to 85 mph.

INF Owen McLellan (Shorewood, 2026) is an athletic infielder who had an impressive day all around. First, McLellan registered one of the top 60-yard dash times at 6.84 seconds. He is quick to get to his top speed and has quick turnover once underway. Next, with the bat, McLellan showed an easy swing and gets bat speed out front with leverage. His swing is geared for line drive contact to all fields. In the infield, the sophomore is a quick mover with quality infield actions and soft hands. His arm plays on the left-side of the infield and was up to 86 mph across.

10/14/23

McLellan, is an athletic and twitchy 5-foot-9, 149-pounds with some projection left in his frame. McLellan started off his day by running one of the quickest times of the day in the 60 yard dash of 7.06 seconds. At the plate, he consistently barreled up line drives to both gaps using a quick and repeatable right handed swing. His smooth actions on defense and strong and accurate arm indicate that McLellan will have no problem sticking in the middle of the diamond on defense. McLellan is certainly a prospect worth monitoring as he continues to develop, as he had one of the more impressive days at the workout.

6/25/23

5-foot-9, 145-pound athletic frame, McLellan was a spark plug for the Cardinal offense on Sunday. Out of the leadoff spot, McLellan went 3-for-3 with a triple and three RBIs. From the right side, McLellan has a balanced setup at the dish before moving into a high leg lift load. The hands are quick and whippy to allow for barrel control through the zone. The bat path is level and induces natural lift on the ball. A bat to watch moving into Monday’s championship games.

6/03/23

McLellan showed off his glove all weekend catching eyes with his advanced instincts. Soft hands and the ability to range to both forehand and back hand showed that defensive smoothness is a definite strength. At the plate, McLellan impressed with an athletic load as well as an on-plane, flexible swing. Bat-to-ball skills are advanced as well. A player to keep an eye on.

3/18/23

INF Owen McLellan (Shorewood, 2026) is a name who showed out very well at the event at the MOSH. His 5-foot-9, 145 pound frame is athletic and projectable. McLellan showed off his athleticism right off the bat by running a notable 7.17 seconds 60 yard dash, which was 4th best at the event for the talented 2026 group. He hits with a handsy swing and possesses tons of barrel feel with the ability to hit line drives through the middle of the field. He thoroughly impressed our scouts with his defensive acumen in the middle of the diamond and a strong and accurate arm which should allow McLellan to profile as a shortstop for the long term.
