Michigan recruit. 5-foot-11, 180 pounds; leaner physique with wiry strength, natural athleticism. An efficient, fluid runner; ran a 6.73 at the Super 60 on a softer track, but recorded a 6.53 at the ProCase last summer. The speed has previously shown to translate well in center field in-game. Offensively, switch-hitter, makes more robust contact from the left side; his right-handed round at the Super 60 did show improved barrel feel, low-lying line-drive contact from an up-the-middle approach. Best batted ball was struck from the left side at 95.4 mph off the bat, and travelled 334-plus feet, per TrackMan. Fluid swing, elbow high in load, bat tips forward, creating some length to zone, but also shows quality hand/eye skills. Defends with bounce, left-handed; capable of playing all three outfield spots, providing value from each, with the arm strength to fill the right field corner effectively, too, topping 90 mph to home. He’s one of the most athletic players in the state and Midwest. Phillips is currently enrolled at Pima JC (AZ), where he’s begun his collegiate career a year ahead of schedule; he’ll still fulfill his commitment to Michigan in the fall of 2021.

With one of the top run/throw combinations at the ProCase, Phillips is super athletic at 5-foot-11, 180 pounds. His top tool is his speed, clocking a blistering 6.53 in the sixty and a 4.13 from the left side on a ground out during game action. His sixty time was the top at this year’s ProCase. He also showed above average arm strength (89 mph) from the outfield with strong carry to his target. His speed plays on defense with plenty of range in all directions to cover the big field. Offensively, the switch-hitter looked more comfortable from the left side with a loose swing, stayed inside the baseball and used the middle of the field. From the right side his swing was short, but choppy and out front. With an exit velocity off the tee of 91 mph he showed some present pop, but during game action there wasn’t much power from either side. His measurables of 64.7 mph of bat speed, 17.3 mph peak hand speed, 7.9 g of rotational acceleration and an on-plane efficiency score of 51% all check-in below average for the college level. However, he is able to currently thrive on offense by putting the bat on the ball in just 0.14 seconds of time to contact and using his superior speed to create havoc on the base paths. Phillips possesses many of the tools to become a premium prospect, and just how premium will be determined by the development of his bat over the next few years.

5-foot-11, 180 pounds; premium athlete and an increasingly rising name to know on a national level. Switch-hit bat with excellent barrel control and strength on contact, helping him take what’s given to him to put the ball in play at a high rate with some bat strength; twitchy swings, a little more comfortable from the left side with a more natural feel to hit. Natural center fielder with a quick first step, glides to routes, makes the deep fly ball look routine; above-average arm strength, too. Aggressive baserunner who is constantly looking to take the extra base. Among the top prospects in the Midwest who is stirring some looks ahead of the 2021 draft.

+ OF Q Phillips (Brookfield HS, WI), a Michigan recruit, collected multiple hits, opening up the tournament for Midwest Prospects Cincinnati. The 5-foot-10, 170-pound left-handed hitter sits in a balanced stance with an easy, fluid load that allows his quick hands to effortlessly work the barrel flat through the zone. His coverage of the plate allows for firm line drives to all field, and he has impressive lag of the barrel in the zone. A confident hitter with a mature approach, Phillips took quality at-bats all evening, and looks the part of a top of the order hitter who may have a chance to stick in centerfield moving forward.

5-foot-10, 170-pound lean/strong, athletic frame. One of the top bats in the Wisconsin 2021 class had a strong showing at the plate all tournament long and was a strong candidate to be named the offensive MVP. Phillips led an impressive offensive attack by STiKS Black in their 11-7 victory over Illinois Indians on Friday. The freshly committed Michigan recruit went 1-for-2 at the plate with three RBIs, two of which came on a deep homer to center. That mammoth home run to straight away center field came with a wooden bat, too. Phillips is one of the top-ranked players in the state's 2021 class and is a high-follow as he prepares to enter his junior season at Brookfield East. He finished the tournament going a combined 7-for-16 with two doubles, a triple, and a home run, all while covering a ton of ground as the team’s primary center fielder.
