The Winona State recruit went 2-0 on the week with wins over Racine Park and South Milwaukee. Pitched seven total perfect innings, striking out 13 batters. Threw 73 pitches over his seven innings of work, 57 of which were strikes. Buchta is now 5-1 on the season with a 0.70 ERA and 0.80 WHIP with 42 K's in 30 IP.

Delivery: Sidestep windup, small rocker step into a higher leg lift, leg kick down the mound, simple, repeatable.
Arm Action: RH. High 3/4 slot, some looseness, ful arc, online.
FB: T86, 83-85 mph. Firmness with carry through the zone, some arm-side run, late life up in the zone. T2078, 1930 average rpm.
CB: 72-76 mph. 11/5 shape, late break, defined vertical movement, out-pitch thrown in mostly advantage counts, some swing-and-miss. T2276, 2048 average rpm.
CH: 76-77 mph. Fading action, able to land on sides of plates, feel for zone. T1643, 1622 average rpm.

Continued to provide upside looks in front of our staff, presenting himself in a strong 6-foot-4, 203-pound frame. The FB played in the mid-80s throughout, touching 86 mph multiple times. He challenged hitters with his primary pitch, garnering swing and miss throughout. Paired the FB with a mature CB, throwing the pitch in any count while mixing in a CH at times. Buchta racked up innings in high-leverage spots throughout the spring and summer—showcasing a quality arsenal in each look to emerge as an uncommitted name-to-know in the Badger State’s 2025 class.

RHP Ryan Buchta (Oak Creek, 2025) started in the state semifinals last week, a 6-foot-5 right-hander with long levers and room to grow. He uses a high leg-lift, landing slightly open towards first base. He uses a full arm swing into a high-¾ to over-the-top slot before unleashing his quality stuff. His fastball was 83-85 mph, reaching 86 with some arm-side run, finishing the pitch through the delivery, which led to carry through the zone. His curveball showed tight break at 71-73, mostly vertical break. The changeup also showed mostly vertical break but with a bit of arm-side run at 73-75 mph. Buchta’s cutter was 72-76 mph, also mostly vertical but with smaller, tighter break than the curveball. Buchta should improve as he grows into his big frame, honing his craft while adding velocity.

CH: 73-75 mph. Mostly downward, ASR, good pitch. T1651, 1579 average rpm.
CUT: 72-76 mph. Mostly vertical movement also just smaller than CB.

Body: 6-4, 202-pounds. Proportional build, room to add throughout, long frame.
Delivery: High leg swing with balance, gets downhill inline, balance through release with high leg swing finish.
Arm Action: RH. Full arm swing, 3/4 slot, serious whip out front.
FB: T85, 83-85 mph. Forward life finish through the zone. T2141, 2090 average rpm.
CB: 70-71 mph. 11/5 breaker with sharpness, can land. T2290, 2171 average rpm.
SPLT: 77-78 mph. Late depth at the plate, can land in zone and get below.

Buchta an imposing 6-foot-4, 195 pounds pitching prospect, pitching from a high three-quarter slot. Buchta gets heavy arm side run on the fastball that was up to 84 mph. His 70-72 mph 12/6 curveball flashed out pitch quality at times. He also has a change up with developing feel that flashes late arm side fade to the pitch. Buchta’s projectable frame likely fills with a chance for his stuff to tick in the near future.

CB: 70-72 mph. Flashed sharp 12/6 at times. T2174, 2134 average rpm.
CH: 73-75 mph. Sinks hard to the arm side. T1762, 1604 average rpm.

He’s 6-foot-3, 166-pounds with an above average spinning curveball for his age, it flashed sharp action and averaged 2341 rpm, while showing an upper 70’s fastball with well above average control of the zone.
