Wells made two appearances on the mound across 6.1 innings, including one start where he struck out 10 batters and walked none against Wauwatosa West. He also pitched in relief in a significant spot against Muskego, allowing no runs and striking out one. Overall, Wells allowed five hits and no runs while striking out 11. At the plate, Wells went 10-for-18 with one walk, two doubles, and six RBIs.

RHP Sam Wells (Brookfield East, 2026): Wisconsin-La Crosse recruit, operates with a sturdy 6-foot-1, 204-pound frame that features good proportions and strength throughout. Though listed as a right-handed hitting corner infielder, his most potent upside is showcased on the mound. Moving with a rhythmic tempo, he repeats a balanced and fluid delivery with minimal effort. He works from a high tuck and lands with closed direction to the plate, firing a quick arm consistently through a 3/4 slot. His fastball sat 89-90 mph (2,176 rpm) with 16.3 inches of average induced vertical break, touching a max of 91 mph, while his curveball played at 78 mph (2,472 rpm) with 7.5 inches of horizontal movement. The 11/5 breaking ball flashed sharpness and late bite, and he rounded out his arsenal with an 82-83 mph changeup that showed impressive fade out of the identical fastball tunnel.

Wells came into the State Games as one of the most physical two-ways in the state’s incoming senior class, and he looked like one of the best prospects in attendance when it was all said and done. Wider base in the box, quick and compact swing with power to all fields, ball jumps off the barrel, max EV of 98.5 mph. Athleticism and physicality plays on the infield, with a max INF velocity of 89 mph. On the mound, Wells is a simple mover with a short, compact arm action. His fastball was up to 88 mph, sitting 84-87 mph throughout with ride and run. He often turned to a curveball that sat 74-78 mph with sharp depth, averaging -9.2 inches of induced vertical break and -15.9 inches of horizontal movement.
+ RHP/3B Sam Wells (Brookfield East, 2026) was a big winner at this event. He possesses athleticism and strength with his 6-foot-1, 197-pound frame. The righty’s fastball reached 89 mph on the mound and featured a late tail. He complemented his fastball with a sharp 75-77 mph curveball and an 81-83 mph cutter with some downer action. His delivery is fluid, showcasing athleticism on the mound. At the plate, Wells demonstrates power with a well-sequenced swing and impressed us with a 98 mph exit velocity, as well as a 91 mph throw from the infield.

Possessing a strong, athletic, and proportionate 6-foot-1, 187-pound frame Sam Wells got the win on the mound for Brew State Academy. The righty threw a full seven innings only allowing one earned run, three hits, and one walk while striking out nine. Mechanically, Wells is easy and loose on the mound, stays closed for a long time, and throws out of a 3/4 arm slot. He consistently threw a firm fastball 81-85 mph the whole game complemented by a 73-75 mph slider that he threw for strikes.

The righty finished with two RBIs and a double in a loss for the Brew State 15U team. Was consistently on the barrel in his at bats, displaying high exit velocities by squaring up multiple pitches in different plate appearances. Closes an open stance, allows him to whip the barrel through the zone, generating easy power through his lower half. Stands at a projectable 5-foot-9, 142-pounds with room to fill out as an incoming sophomore.
Wells pitched a complete game shutout on Thursday while striking out eight. Wells started the game in the mid-70s but started to rise in the third inning at 78-80 mph, T81. Wells held that for the majority of the game while also showing a 67-68 mph slider that mixed well. The right-hander had an easy and repeatable motion that didn’t put much perceived effort into it.
