Florida 2024 Rankings Update

Rocco Iervasi
PBR Florida Director of Operations/Area Scout

Updated player rankings continue as we move on to the 2024 class this week. These sophomores are making big impacts on their varsity teams this spring in their second year of high school. The 2024 class in Florida is full of talented arms sitting in the high 80’s and low 90’s. There is also a lot of two way potential in this class with many players making impacts on both sides of the ball. Take a look at our newest update in Florida.

The top of the class remains the same at 1 and 2 with two Florida State commit two-ways. RHP/OF Chase Mobley sits at No. 1 with his long 6-foot-3, 190 pound frame. Fastball in the low 90’s with more to come as he has started to fill out his frame. Developing power potential in his bat makes him a legit two-way to follow. LHP/OF Talan Bell comes in at No. 2. Bell continues to show a quick arm now running the fastball up to 91 mph. He still has room to fill out at 5-foot-10, 150 pounds, and that should only help his development. Offensively, Bell swings it well from the left side. Gap to gap hitter with power that could pop as he continues to develop.

No. 3 in the Florida 2024 class is a newcomer in 3B Andre Modugno. Modugno came over to Florida from New Jersey and has stamped his spot in the IMG National lineup. Modugno has a physically advanced frame at 6-foot-5, 195 pounds. He has present power with even more to come in the future. Mature approach at the plate generating easy velo off the bat. A lot to like in the offensive profile.

No. 4 is the top SS in the state in Manuelle Marin. The recent Tennessee commit has an impressive offensive toolset. Mature actions in the box with an advanced approach to the ball. Hands are loose getting through the zone with ease. Uses the whole field to drive the baseball. Defensively, moves well at short and has the arm strength to stick there long term.

Rounding out the top 5 is a big riser in the class in RHP Ryan Mcpherson. The Hail State commit produces easy velo on the mound sitting in the high 80’s and getting into the low 90’s. Arm is loose with more velo to come as he continues to get stronger. Shows feel to spin the breaking ball as well. High upside riser.
