PBR Georgia Staff

The LakePoint Classic took place this past weekend, June 13th through the 16th. Over 65 teams from four age groups (14U-17U)  came to LakePoint Sporting Community in Cartersville, GA to compete. Today, we present to you the 14U/15U Scout Blog. The Scout Blog provides insider information and scouting notes from the PBR Scouting Staff during the tournament. Featured in the blog is information unsigned prospects, draft prospects and anything else that is notable. We provide a wide range of information, including player evaluations, velocities, pop times, home to first times and more. Simply put, the LakePoint Classic Scout Blog is loaded with information.


15U

615 Baseball

McKane Everett, CIF, Wilson Central (TN), 2022
6-foot-1, 190 pounds; physical build with big power potential. Smooth LHH with above average present power. Gets uphill shoulder plane on swing with hands working low. Showed power to both gaps and should be a power hitter to watch in TN.

Hunter Williams, MIF, Wilson Central (TN), 2022
5-foot-5, 140 pounds. Plays above frame. Athletic set-up at the plate, low hands with slight stride out. Strong upper-half. Solid line-drive swing that constantly hits balls hard. Solid, hard-nosed player.

Kenneth McKinley, OF, Ensworth (TN), 2022
6-foot-2, 180-pound athletically built with a muscular frame, right-handed hitting center fielder. A raw prospect, high level athletic tools. Offensively, swing works short and level through the zone, generates hard line drive contact.


Barrett Braves 15U

Ryder Moye, LHP/OF, Sequoyah, 2022
5-foot-10, 150 pounds. On the mound, works extremely quick. Fast delivery with a high frontside. Uphill shoulder plane with a closed landing. Full, clean arm at a H3/4 slot. FB sat 72-76 with a ⅙ CB at 63-67. At the plate, backspun balls frequently. Showed some pop for a triple over the RF head.

BigStix Baseball

Zach Bailey, LHP, Locust Grove, 2022
6-foot, 190 pounds. Clean, repeatable delivery. Long draw with high frontside. Threw a heavy fastball that played above velocity. FB sat 77-79, showed control of both sides of the plate. 


Elijah Banks, OF, Riverdale, 2022
Throughout the weekend, Banks showed the ability to get on base with gap to gap abilities. At 6’2 155 pounds, there’s a lot of room left to fill. As he matures, we can expect to see his incredibly quick hands begin to display power as an added dimension to his game. Covered a lot of ground in CF and proved his defense to be equally as impressive as his abilities at the plate. 


Dulins Dodgers Prime

Dakota Jordan, MIF/OF, Canton Academy (MS), 2022
Mississippi State commit, one of the top athletes in the 2022 class, strong upper and lower halves, quick twitch muscle. Right-handed hitter spent time at shortstop and center field. Balanced setup, leg lift stride, hands start high, dropping quick on load, great balance through contact. Swings with advanced hand speed and barrel control. Generates hard contact to all fields with ease. Easy runner, good body control, clean strides and routes. Defensively, athleticism and arm strength will allow to play shortstop or center field. High follow prospect. 


Trent Hodgdon, RHP/3B, Smiths Station (AL), 2021
6-foot-2, 190-pound two-way prospect,moves athletically with a physical frame, room for continued physical development. Works from a ¾ slot with clean arm action, hides on the back-side, accelerates quickly cross-body. Tall and fall delivery, repeatable, uses lower half well, works on-line, lands square, finishes crossing over.  Fastball sat 84-86, touched 87 mph for over 5 innings, commanded around the zone. Curveball, shape varied between 12/6 and 11/5, flashed late break, mixed in a changeup with armside run at 78, has potential. Offensively, showed strong hands through contact, present bat speed, power hitter looks to pull the ball.
Tucker Stockman, C/RHP, Athens (AL), 2022
6-foot-2, 220, right-handed hitting two-way prospect, advanced strength for age, muscular upper and lower halves. On the mound, stretch only, showed a short arm action to a ¾ slot, quick arm speed, some recoil. Athletic tall and fall delivery, utilizes strong lower half well, works on-line. Fastball touched 86, settled in at 82-84 with run. Offered up a tight slider, late break, 71-75. Offensively, an intimidating presence, crouching setup, quick hand speed, generates advanced power for age, made consistent hard contact. High follow two-way prospect.
Tanner Jones, RHP/3B, Thorsby (AL), 2021
5-foot-11, 195-pound right-handed hitting corner infielder and pitcher, physical frame, strength throughout. On the mound was brought in to close out a game.  Long arm action to an over-the-top slot, showing low, quick arm speed, uses lower half well. Ran his fastball up to 90 mph at-times with armside run, ranged 83-90 mph. Mixed in an 11/5 curveball that flashed some sharpness, 71-73.
Will Cannon, RHP, Central Phenix (AL), 2021
5-foot-11, 185-pound right-handed pitcher, athletic build, strong lower half. Long arm action, works loosely to a high ¾ slot, repeats well. Solid lower half, breaks leg on the back-side but remains tall, lands toe closed, finishes carry self towards home. Fastball sat 82-85. Used an 11/5 curveball at 69-70 and a changeup with fade at 72-73.
Ellis Yohn, RHP/C, Smiths Station (AL), 2021
5-foot-9, 190-pound right-handed two-way prospect, strong, compact frame, powerful build. Stood out on the mound the very first night of the tournament when he recorded five strikeouts in two innings of work. Short, quick arm action to a low ¾ slot, quick arm speed. Fastball touched 90 mph, ranged 84-90 with late life. Defensively plays athletically behind the dish, arm works short, from a high slot, throws carry with accuracy, advanced catch and throw abilities. Offensively, present bat speed, generates hard contact gap-to-gap.
Cooper Clapp, SS, Hardin County (TN), 2022
5-foot-8, 155-pound left-handed hitting middle infielder. Showed good range at shortstop for Dulins, athletic first step, good instincts, quick hands allow for smooth transfers and a quick release. Offensively, still developing bat, line drive type hitter.

Joshua Russell, OF, Briarcrest (TN), 2022
6-foot, 150-pound frame, athletic build, projectable, right-handed hitting outfielder. Hit in the leadoff position for Dulins, line drive type hitter, used the whole field, with continued physical development will grow into power.

East Cobb Colt 45’s

Trey Griffin, RHP, Lassiter, 2022
6-foot-1, 140 pounds; projectable. Uses a short arm action on the mound; hides the ball well until release. Fastball sat 77-79 with more life in there. Impressed with ability to repeat delivery and manage the strike zone. Look for Griffin to make a jump in the coming years.
Kentucky Mustangs Arsenal

Christian Howe, RHP/3B, Danville (KY), 2021
6-foot-3, 180 pounds; proportionally athletic body. Uses a controlled, fluid delivery with long draw with high frontside. Throws from a H3/4 slot. FB has significant armside run, sitting 81-84 (Have seen up to 86 in PBR events). Mixed in a CB with gradual break at 67-68. Athletic arm that continues to make strides.

Chase Alderman, RHP/SS, Rowan County (KY), 2022
Stands out for his 6-foot-4, 170-pound frame, athletically built, projects very well,right-handed hitting shortstop and right-handed pitcher. Arm worked short with a low show, to an over-the-top slot. Kept momentum on-line with home, spinning off at finish. Fastball, showed tilt at-times, 81-83, touched 84.
Brady Baxter, RHP/C, Danville (KY), 2021
6-foot-2, 153-pound right-handed hitting two-way prospect. On the mound, showed good hand speed, fastball played at 79-81, controlled around the zone. Breaking ball came in at 69 mph. Pitched with emotion.

Nicholas McElroy, SS/2B, Woodlawn (IL), 2021
5-foot-10, 150-pound middle infielder, long, athletic frame, projectable build, some quick twitch muscle. Hit in the leadoff spot for the Kentucky Mustangs Arsenal 15U. Showed a gap-to-gap approach, barrel worked level through the zone,  developing power. Hard runner on the base paths.

Brady Morse, C/RHP, Danville (KY), 2022
6-foot-1, 160-pound right-handed hitting two-way prospect, physical build for age, has strength throughout frame. Showed a good approach offensively, level barrel path through the zone, ability to stay on outside pitches and drive the other way, executed a perfect hit and run. On the mound, worked with a long arm action to a high ¾ slot, shows on the back-side. Fastball touched 81, mostly 77-79. Curveball, 11/5 shape, 63 mph, good feel for pitch, confident in.

Logan Smothers, RHP, Danville (KY), 2022
5-foot-11, 158-pound right-handed pitcher, strong frame, projectable build, plenty of room for continued physical development. Arm worked clean and athletically to a ¾ slot, really pulls the ball down through release. Fastball sat 79-81. Some feel for 12/6 curveball, flashed late break, 68-69.

Rawlings SE National

Luke Fernandez, RHP/1B, West Forsyth, 2022
6-foot-1, 190-pound right-handed pitcher and first baseman, broad shoulders, strength throughout. On the mound, fast-tempo delivery with low leg-kick. Displayed impressive arm strength with fastball sitting 84-86,T87; good control, ability to get outs all over zone. Mixed speeds frequently with CB at 66-68; more of an OH slot with 12/6 action. CH had late ASR at 78.
Blair Barnes, 3B/OF, Grayson, 2022
6-foot, 180-pounds right-handed hitting third baseman and outfielder, athletic with present strength, projectable frame with more room for physical development. Offensively, wide, balanced setup, shorts stride, gets front foot down early, hands load back, keeps weight on back leg, maintains good balance. Swings with aggressive intent, generates hard contact to all fields, gains extension through contact, 97 mph exit velocity on a standup triple to center field. Defensively, has enough arm strength to stick on left-side, will need to work on accuracy. Looked more natural in center field, long strider.

Team 24 Gamecocks

Andrew Hazelwood, RHP, James Monroe (WV), 2022
5-foot-10, 153-pound right-handed pitcher. Worked with a short, whippy arm action to a high ¾ slot. Kept fastball low in the zone at 80-81 mph. Curveball, showed good shape, 61 mph.

Ben Snavely, SS, Clover (SC), 2022
5-foot-8, 140-pound athletically built right-handed hitting middle infielder. Still physically maturing, more strength to come. Offensively, currently a line drive hitter, looks to place the ball in the gaps. Takes a balanced setup, hands load back, short stride.

Justin Skinnell, C/1B, Clover (SC), 2022
6-foot-1. 160-pounds, lean frame, plenty of room for filling out, broad shoulders. Takes a power approach at the plate, looks to elevate the ball to the pull side, swing works smoothly.

Top Tier Navy

James Blokell, INF, Lyons Township (IL), 2022
6-foot-1, 155 pounds; lanky, wiry build. Loose actions in the field and at the plate. Hits from an open stance; hands work loosely away from body. Big gather upon load. Looks to drive the ball. Good bath pat through the zone; has the ability to go where ball is pitched. 

Josh Carroll, 3B/RHP, St. Rita (IL), 2022
5-foot-10, 170 pounds; big frame that will add strength. Shows above average hands in the infield with sure actions. Hands and feet work well together and will improve quickness as body develops. Has good power potential at the plate. Balanced swing; stays behind the ball. Uses lower-half to generate power. Loud contact when squares up. 


Jack DiSano, 3B, Glenbrook South (IL), 2022
The 6’2, 205 pound third-baseman displayed impressive power all weekend long. Strong, physical frame that can continue to fill out. Loose, soft hands that allow him to throw the barrel well. Brings a good approach to the plate and doesn’t deviate from it often, hammering pitches middle-in. 


Top Tier Red

Jack Powers, OF, Fenwick (IL), 2022
5-foot-7, 135 pounds. Athletic player that plays on both sides of the ball. Wiry swing that produces hard contact. Head stays down upon contact. Good runner that translates well to the field. Covers ground well in the outfield. Plays hard.

Aiden Rowe, C, Hinsdale Central (IL), 2022
Big-bodied catcher at 6-foot, 200 pounds. Moves well behind the plate. Showed plus arm strength on catch and throws. Had a solid week at the plate, with multi-hit games. Raw skill set right now, but physical tools are there. 

Top Tier Silver

Jaden Coleman, OF/LHP, Lincoln Way Central, 2022
5-foot-5, 125 pounds. LHH outfielder with good athletic instincts. Has a line drive approach at the plate with developing bat speed. Gets to slot and keeps barrel in zone throughout contact. Raw offensive set. Solid defender in the outfield who plays hard.

Top Tier White

Pearse Gorman, SS, Fenwick (IL), 2022
5-foot-9, 125 pounds. Solid defender with above average actions. Uses feet to read hops well. Saw Gorman drop step a one-hopper and deliver a strong throw to first for an out. Uses a level swing with an opposite-field approach.

Andrew Quirk, 3B, Glenbrook South (IL), 2022
Body that has not matured yet. Plays a solid third base with high-level reactions. Uses strong glove to make plays ranging to both sides. Open stance with a gradual load. Level swing that shows good plate discipline.

14U

Clarksville Orioles

Case Jones, C, Houston County, 2022
Big-bodied catcher. Showed offensive tools with a smooth swing that stays through the zone. Displayed power to both sides of the field and continuously barreled the ball throughout the weekend.

Will Elkins, MIF, Clarksville (TN), 2022
5-foot-3, 125 pounds. Small stature, but quick-twitched. Does things at a fast pace. Swing works well; line drive approach. Uses the middle of the field well.

East Cobb Tigers

Tyler Neises, INF/RHP, 2023
6-foot-2, 180 pounds. Strong, physical athlete. Continues to impress as one of the top LHH ‘23 in the state. Uses a loose swing with a free barrel that produces hits to all over the field. Strong hips that work really well with upper half.

Chase Goddard, RHP/INF, Cherokee, 2023
Matured leadoff hitter with an aggressive offensive approach. Has above average power at the plate. Uses lower half well, drives the ball. Can really swing it.

Blake Rodgers, LHP/1B, Gordon Lee, 2023
5-foot-11, 185 pounds; matured body. Has full arm action from a H3/4 slot. Fluid motion. FB sat 74-78 while loose CB at 63-64. Strike thrower who challenges hitters.

Georgia Scorpions

Blake Floyd, OF/RHP, 2023
5-foot-9, 130 pounds. Good athlete that plays CF at a high level, for age. Tracks balls down with ease and possesses a strong arm. At the plate, has an upright, narrow stance. Uses a leg kick with load that are synchronized. Gets barrel out on swing. A solid overall player.

Cooper Evans, RHP/OF, 2023
6-foot-2, 150 pounds; skinny frame. Very advanced hitter with impressive whippy bat speed. Has a good presence in the box and has big time future power potential. Good overall feel in the box. Also a premier pitcher in the class.

Grant Donkin, 3B/OF, Springfield (TN), 2022
6-foot, 150 pounds. Not matured yet. Hits from an upright stance. Barrel stays in zone; good barrel control. Quick swing. Follow.

Clinton Shrader, MIF, Dickson County (TN), 2022
5-foot-7, 175 pounds. Very athletic skill set. Short, strong build. Toolsy player that showed off the run tool over the weekend.

Hit after Hit Outlaws - Nolen

Nathan Aguilar, SS/RHP, TN, 2023
5-foot-9, 140 pounds; stocky, mature build. Uses strong lower-half in all facets of game. At the plate, uses an uphill plane swing to generate power. Gets barrel out front while using extension. Strong actions in the infield. Advanced offensive tools. Stays in legs throughout making defensive play. Also showed a strong arm on the mound with a FB climbing 81 mph. A player to keep an eye on in the future.


Midwest Astros

Cameron Martinez, LHP, Bishop Luers (IN), 2023
5-foot-9, 180-pound left-handed pitcher, strong build with room for continued physical development. On the mound works with a quick, smooth pace, gets the ball and goes. Arm plays short with a low draw, hides the ball well on the back-side. Fastball sat 79-81, controlled around the zone. 1/7 curveball flashed late break at 70 mph.

 

Ninth Inning Royals

Christian Cortes, 1B/LHP, Centennial, 2023
5-foot-8, 135 pounds. Solid offensive player with good strike zone awareness. Does not chase pitches and recognizes spin early. Gap-to-gap hitter that produces solid contact. 

Connor Pressnal, SS, Chamblee, 2022
5-foot-3, 115 pounds; untapped build. Good player with feel for the game. Commands the infield from shortstop and makes all the routine plays with minimal effort. Above average defensive actions. Player to watch in the future.

Porter Ledoyen, C, Dunwoody, 2023
5-foot-8, 135 pounds. Impressed both in the field and at the plate over the weekend. Above average arm strength behind the plate. Showed solid barrel control and a feel for approach, offensively. Quick hands that should develop into more power as he matures.

Ben Weisner, OF, Decatur, 2022
5-foot-7, 105 pounds; long, lanky build. Swing has full bat path. Heavy barrel that produces loud contact throughout the field.

Rawlings SE

Ethan McElvain, LHP/1B, Summit (TN), 2023
6-foot-1, 180-pounds, two-way prospect, long lanky frame, athletic build, projectable arm. A standout prospect on the Rawlings SE 14U team. On the mound worked long to a ¾ slot, showing low on the back, some reaching, arm accelerates quickly. Tall and fall, works on-line, finishes crossing over. Fastball sat 81-84 in the first inning, settling in at 78-81. Curveball, 2/8 shape, 67-69, located in and out with. Changeup at 73 mph. Offensively, right-handed hitter, swung it aggressively the whole weekend.


UA Force Ohio

Edward Taylor, 2023
Athletic build. Good runner who has a raw skill set. Hits from open stance, jab step timing that dives at times. Fast hands; ball jumps off bat pull-side. 

 

Kaydn Burkholder, OF/1B, Mentor (OH), 2023
Calm, controlled stance. Rotational load. Uphill swing; barrel gets through the zone in time. Solid hitter with untapped athletic potential.

Camran Wadsworth, LHP/1B, Shaker Heights (OH), 2022
Lanky build at 6-foot-2, 165-pounds.. Left-handed hitter with advanced feel at the plate. Good approach that can hit the ball to all fields. Athletic runner with long strides.
