No. 4 Moline 3, No. 15 Alton 0
Moline (27-10) blanked Alton (28-10) behind a two-hit shutout from Maroon ace RHP Matt Brill (11-0). For the Maroons, it was their first sectional championship since 2005. The Maroons will meet No. 8 Neuqua Valley (29-9) at 4:30 on Tuesday in the University of Illinois Supersectional in Champaign.

ROCKFORD RIVERHAWKS SUPERSECTIONAL 2 7

No. 13 St. Charles East 7, No. 17 Jacobs 2
St. Charles East (28-11-1) rolled past Jacobs (25-12-1) behind another masterpiece from senior RHP Matt Starai (10-1). Starai fired a three-hitter at the Golden Eagles with six strikeouts. Fighting Saint senior Anthony Sciarrino had a single and plated three runs to lead the Saints attack. Northwestern-bound Joe Hoscheit added a single and an RBI while senior Jack Dellostritto chipped in with a single and an RBI.

ROCKFORD RIVERHAWKS SUPERSECTIONAL 1 4:30

No. 9 Libertyville 5, No. 10 Maine South 3
Libertyville (28-11-1) jumped out to a 5-0 lead and hung on to defeat Maine South (24-10) on Monday in Rockford. Connor Simpson led the Wildcats with a 3-for-3 day with two-RBI. Wildcat All-State candidate junior C Evan Skoug ripped a pair of doubles and plated a pair. RHP Kevin Calamari fired three scoreless innings in relief to nail down the save for RHP Jason Buss.

CLASS 3A SECTIONAL FINALS

NORTH CENTRAL COLLEGE SUPERSECTIONAL 4:00

No. 23 Grayslake Central 4, No.18 Nazareth 0
Grayslake Central (27-12) rolled into the Class 3A Final Four behind a no-hitter from Ram ace Kevin Peloza. Peloza struck out six and walked four to improve to 8-0. Pat Burba, Kyle Clark and Sterling Dixon each had a hit and an RBI for the Rams. Peloza lowered his microscopic ERAS to 0.65.  

AUGUSTANA COLLEGE SUPERSECTIONAL 6

St. Francis 7, No. 3 Metamora 3
St. Francis (22-11) took advantage of three huge Redbird errors, which led to six unearned runs as the Spartans stunned Metamora (32-6) to advance to the Class 3A Final Four at Silver Cross Field in Joliet. Spartan Josh Croci had a huge double and plated three big Spartan runs. Jack Petrando added two hits and two RBI while Jack Ciombor with two hits and an RBI.

Spartan RHP Jason Sullivan scattered 11 hits allowing three runs, two earned, in his six innings of work to pick up the win. Spartan closer Dan Brundage shut down the Redbirds in the seventh to send the Spartans to a 10 a.m. date with No. 23 Grayslake Central at Silver Cross Field in Joliet on Friday morning. 

SAUGET SUPERSECTIONAL (TUESDAY JUNE 4 5:00)

No. 12 Bloomington, No. 20 Mount Vernon

Bloomington (29-9) Mount Vernon (30-8-1)

EFFINGHAM SECTIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP (MONDAY JUNE 3 4:30)

No. 20 Mount Vernon 2, Troy-Triad 1
Mount Vernon (30-8-1) slipped past Troy-Triad behind a five-hitter from Ram ace junior Brock Fulkerson (11-2). The talented junior struck out two and did not walk a batter. Ram senior C Collin Young had a single and plated both Ram runs. The South Seven Conference champs from Mount Vernon will take on Bloomington in the Class 3A Sauget Supersectional at 5 on Tuesday.
