Big 12

No. 25 Normal West (13-4; 1-0) defeated Decatur Eisenhower 6-2 behind University of Illinois recruit Matthew James (6-0). James fired 2 1/3 scoreless innings of relief to pick up the win. Wildcat junior Jake Evans broke up a 2-2 tie with a clutch two-out two RBI single in the sixth. James had a double and a triple at the plate and junior Alex Jefferson also doubled and tripled for the Wildcats.

Bloomington (12-4; 1-0) defeated Normal Community 4-1 behind junior Kent Frantz (5-1), who went the distance for the Purple Raiders on Tuesday. Frantz fanned 10 Ironmen hitters.

Danville (10-5; 1-0) surprised Champaign Centennial 3-1 behind junior C Chuckie Robinson. Robinson launched a solo-shot among his two hits to lead the Vikings past the Chargers. Viking ace Cash Kiser (5-0) fired a five-hitter with six strikeouts at CC (13-3; 1-1).

Central State 8

Sacred Heart-Griffin (9-6; 6-1) defeated Chatham Glenwood 9-5 on Tuesday night at Lanphier Park in Springfield. Cyclone junior Carter Pranger went deep with a pair on to highlight a six-run Cyclone fourth.

Chatham Glenwood (11-5; 7-2) was led by Titan sophomore Brian Hobbie, who hit a grand-slam for Glenwood .The two clubs will meet at South Park in Chatham on Wednesday at 4:30.

Central Suburban North

Highland Park (8-10; 3-1) defeated Maine East 6-1 on Tuesday. Giant senior leadoff man Dave Oversen had a perfect 3-for-3 afternoon for HP. Giant sophomore Severin Schultis fired a four-hitter at the Blue Demons with six strikeouts for the CSL-North leaders. 

Central Suburban South

Maine South (13-3; 4-0) defeated Waukegan 8-0 as Hawk senior Rocky Saavedra (4-0) fired a no-hitter at the Bulldogs. Saavedra struck out eight. University of Notre Dame-bound CF Kyle Richardson continued his torrid hitting with two hits and an RBI for the CSL-South leaders.

No. 16 Niles West (16-2; 3-1) defeated Evanston 4-1 behind Wolves junior C Seth Rosenberg. Rosenberg had three hits and plated a pair of NW runs. Wolves starting pitcher Jason Meger was lights-out on the mound with a two-hitter with 13 big strikeouts. Evanston falls to (12-9; 3-1)

New Trier (8-4; 3-1) defeated No. 15 Glenbrook South 2-1. Trevian lefty Nick Hedge improved to 5-0 on the mound with a four-hitter with 10 strikeouts on Tuesday. Glenbrook South falls to (11-5; 2-2).

DuPage Valley

Wheaton North (11-6; 5-0) slipped past West Chicago 2-1 on Tuesday.

Naperville Central (9-6; 4-1) blanked West Aurora 8-0 behind Redhawk junior RHP Cody Campbell.

Glenbard North (9-6; 4-1) slipped past Glenbard East 3-2.

East Suburban Catholic

No. 11 Nazareth (15-1; 2-0) outlasted St. Viator 5-4 in 13 innings. Sophomore John Bartels singled home the lead run in the top of the 13th. Miami of Ohio-bound LHP Ryan Marske (3-0) fired six scoreless innings in relief to pick up the win.

Fox Valley Crossovers

Cary-Grove (11-6; 5-0 Valley) smashed Johnsburg 13-0 in five innings. Trojan Jeremy Vasquez led the way for CG with three RBI.

Crystal Lake South (13-6; 5-1) jumped on archrival Crystal Lake Central for five first-inning runs and never looked back crushing the Tigers 12-2 on Tuesday. Gator senior Tyler Salm had four hits including two doubles and drove home three Gator runs. Senior Jordan Van Dyck chipped in with a pair of hits and two RBI and senior Zach Geib improved to 5-2 on the mound with a solid six-inning performance.

Grayslake Central (12-6; 5-1 Fox) slipped past Prairie Ridge 1-0 on a wild pitch in the bottom of the seventh. Ram senior RHP Mark Ash fired a one-hitter with 12 strikeouts at the Wolves.

Interstate 8-North

Lisle (17-4; 6-0) beat Seneca 4-1 behind junior Ryan Van Volkenburg. Van Volkenburg scattered seven hits and improved to 5-0 on the mound for the I-8 North leaders. 

Interstate 8-South

Manteno (20-1; 4-1) crushed Peotone 17-1 in five innings. Senior CF JJ Witherow hit a pair of homers and drove in seven runs. Judson College-bound Mark Reardanz went deep with a man on. Reardanz drove home three making a winner of Panther starting pitcher Paul DuFrain (3-1).

Herscher (18-4; 4-1) kept pace with Manteno with an 11-1 win over Reed-Custer. Junior Austin Mendell improves to 4- 1 for the Tigers with the win on the mound.

Metro Suburban

Riverside-Brookfield (11-6; 6-1) defeated Elmwood Park 3-1 on Tuesday.

Mid-Suburban East

Buffalo Grove (7-11; 2-2) outslugged No. 9 Hersey 10-8 on Tuesday. Bison Jimmy Barton was 3-for-5 with a pair of key RBI for BG. Jeremy Berger (3-0) fired three scoreless innings of relief to pick up the win for the Bison. Hersey falls to 12-2; 3-1).

North Suburban Lake

No. 7 Mundelein (17-2; 5-0) blanked Warren 10-0 in five innings on Tuesday. Mustang senior RHP Jared Mandel fired his second consecutive shutout for the Mustangs with six strikeouts.

Libertyville (11-3; 3-0) kept pace with Mundelein with a 4-2 win over Lake Zurich. Wildcat senior Kyle Cibrairo fired a four-hitter at the Bears.

N. Illinois Big 12 East

Yorkville (10-6; 4-0) hammered Rochelle 9-2 behind senior Mitch Prickett and Ryan May. The seniors each had two hits and two RBI for the NIB-12-East leaders.

DeKalb (9-5; 3-2) slipped past Kaneland 4-3 in 12 innings on Tuesday. Kaneland falls to (10-7; 4-1)

N. Ilinois Big 12 West

Ottawa (13-5; 4-1) hammered NIB-12 West leader Geneseo 14-4 in five innings on Tuesday. Pirate Colton Trager had two hits and drove home four runs. Kyle Wahlbaum added a pair of hits and three RBI. Junior CF Miguel Hermosillo continued his torrid hitting with a perfect 3-for-3 day with two doubles and two RBI. Geneseo falls to (14-7; 4-1)

South Suburban Blue

Oak Forest (12-4; 6-2) blasted TF North 10-3. Junior Jason Hine had a 4-for-4 day with two RBI to lead the Bengals.

TF South (9-7; 5-2) slipped past Bremen 2-1 in nine innings on Tuesday. Rebel

Dominic Sciackitano won it in the bottom of the ninth with a walk-off single. Bremen (12-9; 4-2) was led by junior Vince Janotta who went deep for the Braves run.

Lemont (8-7; 4-2) defeated Hillcrest 10-0 in five innings as Indian sophomore LHP Charlie Wright fired a no-hitter at the Hawks. Junior Alex Broskovetz had three hits and three RBI for Lemont.

South Suburban Red

Richards (12-7; 7-0) crushed Argo 12-2 behind senior Tyler Sheehan. Sheehan had three hits including a two-run bomb and plated three Bulldog runs.

Oak Lawn (11-6; 6-1) blanked Tinley Park 4-0 behind a two-hit masterpiece from Spartan junior RHP Bob Kametas (4-0). Kametas fanned 11 Titan hitters. Oak Lawn small ball against TP on Tuesday. Senior Brian Barnhouse squeezed home a Spartan run and plated another with a sac-fly. Junior Chris Rafacz doubled home another run and senior C Kyle Smith was on base three times with a single, double and a walk. 

Southland

Rich Central (14-7; 4-1) smashed Bloom 16-0 in five innings on Tuesday. The Olympians were led by junior Jason Williams, who had three hits and drove home  a pair of runs for RC.

Crete-Monee (10-9; 4-1) defeated Rich East 7-0 behind Warrior starting pitcher Zach Silerzio. Silerzio struck out 13 in his second consecutive no-hitter in Southland Conference action

Southwest Prairie

Plainfield North (15-1; 6-1) defeated Plainfield South 5-2 behind University of Notre Dame-bound RHP Joey Cresta (4-0). Cresta went the distance for the Tigers with eight strikeouts. Junior Zach Zyburt had two hits and an RBI to lead the Tigers.

Plainfield South (10-7; 5-2) will travel to North on Wednesday. The PBR ‘s Drake Skleba will be on the Northside of Plainfield Wednesday afternoon with all of the action.

Oswego (11-5; 5-2) slipped past Plainfield Central 3-2 in eight thrilling innings on Tuesday. The Panthers scored the game-winner on a passed-ball that sent the Jackie’s Field of Dreams contingent home happy on Tuesday night.

Southwest Suburban Blue

No. 20 Sandburg (12-3; 2-1) hammered Lincoln-Way Central 13-5. Eagle senior Dylan Rajkovich had a pair of hits and a pair of RBI to lead the Eagle assault.

The two clubs will meet in Orland Park on Thursday at 4:30. The PBR’s Drake Skleba will be on hand for the SWC-Blue rematch.

Homewood-Flossmoor (12-3; 2-1) destroyed Joliet Central 18-0 in five innings on Tuesday. Viking senior David Stern had three hits and drove home four Viking runs.

Lincoln-Way East (10-6; 2-1) defeated Bolingbrook 12-3 behind St. Joseph’s College-bound RHP Mark Chemello (4-1). Chemello struck out five Raiders in his solid five-innings of work on the mound.

Joliet West (10-7; 2-1) beat Lockport 2-1 behind a five hitter with 12 strikeouts from junior RHP Jake Herron (3-3). Lockport falls to (9-7; 1-2).

Southwest Suburban Red

No.17 Lincoln-Way North (13-4; 3-0) hammered Stagg 12-1 in five innings. Phoenix senior Dominic Hartman had three hits and drove home three runs for the SWC-Red co-leaders.

No. 18 Andrew (13-4; 3-0) blanked Lincoln-Way West 5-0 behind T-Bolt senior Tyler Hook (2-1). “Captain” Hook fired a four-hit shutout at West with eight strikeouts. T-Bolt seniors Justin Rzeszutko, 2B Brian Grad and junior C Ryan Supple supplied the RBI for Andrew.

Southwestern

No. 19 O’Fallon (14-5; 6-1) defeated Collinsville 2-0 behind senior RHP Sam Hopkins. Hopkins fired a one-hitter at the Kahoks to improve to 4-0 on the season. O’ Falllon scored its runs on a Kahok miscue and a bases-loaded walk.

No. 23 Alton (14-3; 5-2) defeated Belleville East 6-2.

No. 24 Edwardsville (14-3; 5-2) blasted East St. Louis 12-0 in five innings on Tuesday.

Suburban Christian Blue

Marmion (9-8; 6-2) slipped past Montini 1-0 behind Cadet senior Chris Simon. Simon fired a two-hit shutout at the Broncos. Senior SS Andy Young singled home the game-winner for the Cadets.

Suburban Christian Gold

Walther Lutheran (10-9; 5-3) won a thriller over Aurora Central Catholic 1-0 in 11 great innings of baseball. Bronco junior Joe Lomnicki (2-3) went the distance and fanned 13 Charger hitters. Junior Zach Schumacher singled home the Bronco game-winner in the 11th.

Aurora Christian (10-5; 3-2) hammered Guerin 8-1 behind sophomore J.T. Bashka. The soph allowed four hits and struck out nine to improve to 5-0 on the mound for the Eagles. Valpo-bound Jake Hansen had two hits including a double and drove home four Eagle runs. Senior Kenny McCracken doubled home a pair of runs for Aurora Christian.

Upstate 8 River

St. Charles East (8-5; 6-2) defeated Elgin 2-0 behind a three-hit shutout from Fighting Saint junior Nick Huskisson (1-2). Senior Jordan Hayes and junior C Joe Hoscheit drove home the SCE runs in the bottom of the third.

St. Charles North (7-7; 4-3) defeated Larkin 5-1 behind EIU-recruit Jake Johansmeier. The future Panther struck out 13 Royals en route to a five-hitter. Wright State-bound John Brodner went deep and drove home two runs to lead the North Stars.

Upstate 8 Valley
South Elgin (10-2; 7-1)
smashed East Aurora 13-2 in six innings. Storm junior David Palmer (3-1) went the distance on the mound for the Storm and helped himself with a pair of RBI. Storm junior Nick Binder plated three runs for SE.

Bartlett (7-9; 3-5) shocked No. 22 Neuqua Valley 2-1. Hawk junior Colin Novak (2-0) fired a six-hitter at the U8C co-leaders, with 11 strikeouts. Senior Dan Gallanis ripped a two-out two run double in the fifth to lead the Hawks to victory. Neuqua Valley falls to (11-5; 7-1). University of Illinois-bound Nick Blackburn (4-1) suffered the loss.

West Suburban Gold

Hinsdale South (10-3; 5-1) swept past Leyden 4-2 on Tuesday. Hornet senior RHP Paul Schuster (4-0) fired a four-hitter at the Eagles. Schuster doubled home a run and Illinois State-bound Sean Beesley tripled home a run for the WSC-Gold co-leaders.

Addison Trail (10-7; 5-1) swept away Willowbrook 14-10 on Tuesday.

West Suburban Silver

No. 3 Oak Park (13-1; 5-1) bombed Hinsdale Central 9-3 behind a grand-slam from junior first baseman Nick Kowalczuk. Senior Max Guzzetta picked up the win on the mound for OPRF.

York (12-5; 7-2) defeated Glenbard West 2-1 behind a four-hit masterpiece from Duke Greg Castello. Duke seniors River Pitlock and Jake Rzeszutko drove home the two York runs.

Nonconference

Brother Rice (13-5) won “the Battle of Pulaski Avenue” 1-0 over No. 8 Marist (14-4) on Tuesday. Crusader senior RHP Garrett O’Neil (4-2) fired a three-hitter with eight strikeouts at the Redhawks. Crusader senior Dan Ohde drove home the only run of the game on a sac-fly.

University of Notre Dame-bound LHP Mike Hearne (4-2) allowed but one hit, a leadoff double to Crusader junior Redic Richardson, in the sixth and suffered the loss for Marist.

Morton (13-3) traveled to Galesburg and defeated the Silver Streaks 5-2 on Tuesday. Galesburg falls to (14-4).
