Chicago Preseason I.D.: Outfield Analysis

By Illinois Staff

On Feb. 28, the PBR Illinois team hosted the third annual Chicago Preseason I.D. at the Pullman Community Center in Chicago, Ill. The event featured nearly 50 players from high school graduates in classes 2022-25, from across the Chicagoland area, including a handful of prospects from across the Indiana state line.

Previously, our staff collaborated to highlight the biggest takeaways and highlights from this showcase, and published them within our Quick Hits piece. We also shared the event's traditional leaderboards, published inside this Statistical Analysis. Later on, with the help of the state-of-the-art technology we had on-site, we dove a little deeper into the data to see what we could find within our TrackMan Files and Blast Motion Board stories.

We began to roll out these position-by-position reports last week, beginning with the event’s catchers and infielders. We’re publishing the reports on the day’s outfielders today.

This group’s led by Brooks’ uncommitted sophomore William Hill, a right/right athlete who led the event in several of the day’s stat categories – like the 60-yard dash and outfield velocity. Hill’s listed at a highly athletic 6-foot-2, 170 pounds, and he syncs up hard contact on repeat from a simple and easy setup and swing. His toolset has him trending as one of the top uncommitted ‘23s in the state.

An athletic uncommitted senior also made the most of his first-ever PBR Illinois event here: Kaleb Chatman (Morgan Park, 2021). Chatman ran a 7.04, which translated well to the outfield, and he displayed a twitchy right-handed swing in a gap-to-gap profile.

To see who joined these two on the rankings below, continue reading. You can also find full reports on each of the outfielders in attendance by continuing on.
