By PBR Scouting Staff

The Chicagoland Open took place on Sunday, August 20 at Triton College in River Grove, IL. The event, which was open to all classes, featured over 50 uncommitted prospects.

Today we start the analysis from the event with a quick look at some impressive performances from the day:

QUICK HITS

UNSIGNED SENIORS

LHP’s Dan Balzhiser (Plainfield East) and Benjamin Maxey (North Boone) are two unsigned senior left-handers to keep an eye on. Both ran their fastball’s into the low 80’s and spun sliders for strikes.

C/INF Bobby Grimes (Nazareth) showed well defensively and ran a 6.78 laser-timed 60. Grimes flashed a strong arm from the crouch, clocked at 80 mph and was consistently on the bag.

Nick Bonk (Stevenson) is a 6-foot-6, 205-pound, physical two-way prospect. Bonk flashed easy pop in his right-handed bat, was clocked at 83 mph from the outfield and sat 85-86 mph on the mound.

RHP Trey Korbel (Lincoln-Way Central) works across his body and pounded the zone with a fastball that sat 81-83 mph.

2019’s

Infielder Michael Patterson (Prairie Ridge) moved well defensively and flashed an above-average arm that had easy carry at 85 mph.

Tucker Cole (Dixon) was one of the top all-around infielders on the day. Cole flashed advanced defensive actions, was 84 mph across the diamond and impressed at the plate. The right-handed hitter, swings with intent, has bat speed and a line-drive approach.

Ashton Holcomb (Morton) is another 2019 infielder who had a solid all-around performance. Holcomb ran a 7.04 60, made a lot of hard contact to the pull-side in BP and flashed soft hands on the infield.

Graham Radabaugh (Geneva) lit up the stat sheet all across the board. The 6-foot-3, 180-pound, two-way prospect ran a 6.86 laser-timed 60, was 87 mph from the outfield, registered an 89 mph exit velocity and ran his fastball up to 88 mph.

2020’s

2020 Tony Livermore looks to be yet another high-level infielder coming out of Mount Carmel. Livermore has a smooth left-handed swing and sprays balls to all fields. Defensively, he is fundamentally sound, has soft hands, quick release and accurate arm. Livermore also ran a 6.82 laser-timed 60.

OF Cael Geijer (Lincoln-Way East, 2020) flashed a combination of tools to keep an eye on moving forward. Geijer ran a 7.09 60, was 85 mph from the outfield and registered an 87 mph exit velocity.

INF Zachary Davis (Lake Zurich, 2020) impressed with his projectable right-handed bat. Davis flashed quick twitch and bat speed in his round of batting practice and registered an 88 mph exit velocity from a tee.
