Few names in the Midwest are hotter than Heiss right now. After enjoying a breakout sophomore campaign, the athletically built, 6-foot-1, 200-pound right-hander lit it up at the Illinois Top Prospect Showcase, where he sat 90-92 with his fastball, to go with a solid 79-81 changeup and 70-72 curveball. Since then, Heiss threw a no-hitter against the Evoshield Canes in Georgia, topping out at 94 mph. Heiss features an athletic and explosive arm. In a mid-spring non-nonference game, Heiss pitched at 90-92 in the first three innings and worked 88-90 for the next three. He also did the same thing at the Illinois Underclass Invitational in January, when he made his name well-known by topping out at 92 mph.  Mechanically, Heiss doesn’t regularly repeat his delivery; he works across his body, landing closed to varying degrees. Heiss throws a palm ball, which behaves much like a curveball, only it has more erratic action, in the 72-74 range. When it’s good, it has late 11/5 bite and gets swings and misses. He offered a few changeups during the game at 82 mph as well. Indoors, his changeup had late arm-side dive. Plays travel baseball with Top Tier.

The Prep Baseball Report Future Games is a one-of-a-kind event featuring the top 2016 prospects from across our 10 state coverage area. This year taking place at Grand Park in Westfield, IN from July 31-August 2, hundreds of scouts from across the country will fill the stands to watch some of the top uncommitted 2016 prospects across our coverage area.

Last year’s Illinois Class of 2015 Future Games Team has already seen thirteen Division 1 commitments from that roster. Over the next several weeks we will begin to unveil prospects who have been selected to participate in this year's event with a brief history and bio of the player and what we can expect from him at the PBR Future Games.
